As we prepare to celebrate the 80th ILT Sing Out Festival this year, we’re looking back on the incredible history of this special event — and we’d love your help 💛

🌟🎶 Tickets are now on sale for Sing Out 2025! 🎶🌟

We are so excited to announce that our students will once again take the stage at the Civic Theatre, Invercargill for this year’s Sing Out celebration. This event brings together children from schools all across our region to perform as one incredible massed choir. It’s always such a special night — full of energy, passion, and the joy of music!

You’ll hear hundreds of young voices singing together in harmony.

The programme is packed with upbeat songs that will leave you smiling.

It’s a chance to celebrate the hard work and talent of our tamariki and the wider school community.

The Sing Out Choir Whānau is bursting with pride as we celebrate these incredible honors! Sarah, our passionate Musical Director, and Michael, our outstanding Band Leader, bring so much talent and dedication to our festival. Their recognition is so well-deserved!

Sarah Rae MNZM (Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit) has made a phenomenal impact on the music community, inspiring countless young singers with her vision and leadership.

Michael Buick KSM (King’s Service Medal) has been instrumental in bringing unforgettable music to life, energizing the Sing Out stage with his expertise and creativity.

We are so lucky to have these extraordinary people as part of the Sing Out family. Thank you for everything you do to make our festival magical. 🌟

What an incredible few nights it has been! A huge thank you to everyone who made this year's festival such a magical event. 🌟

👏 To our amazing musical director, Sarah Rae—your passion and leadership brought out the best in every young performer, creating unforgettable moments on stage.
🎸 To Dr Mike and the Euphoric Kids—your live music was the heartbeat of the festival and added so much energy to the performances!
🎓 To all the teachers who prepared the students so brilliantly—you played a vital role in helping these young singers shine.
🎭 To the Sing Out Committee—your hard work behind the scenes made everything run smoothly and ensured a successful event.

Over the past few months I have had the enormous pleasure of working with people who are passionate about Sing Out and are fostering the love of singing in their schools. In a school term that is incredibly busy I am so appreciative of these wonderful leaders who want to provide this opportunity for their students.

At rehearsals and then at the Civic Theatre this week it has been my privilege to get to stand in front of so many wonderful young people who love to be part of a group and sing. The enthusiasm, and energy from each person is immense. This has to be one of my favourite weeks of the year. To see these beautiful young people rise above their nerves and perform with such joy is amazing.

Thank you to whānau, friends and community who have supported their child in this experience and offered so much encouragement and pride.

There is a reason this event has lasted 78 years. Many of us at the helm were those people on the risers. I know for me it is a long life memory that I will always treasure.

I can't wait for next year to see familiar faces back and new faces joining the ranks. And if anything that those who are going into year 9 find the opportunity to continue their love of music and being part of a group.

Take care and a massive thank you from me. I have loved every minute.

🎶 Meet Our Musical Director: Sarah Rae! 🎶

We are incredibly fortunate to have the talented Sarah Rae as the musical director of the ILT Sing Out Festival! 🌟 Sarah led the massed choir, guiding over 500 young voices to create the spectacular performances that made this year’s festival a huge success.

Beyond Sing Out, Sarah directs the award-winning Southland Girls' High School choirs, Rosso and Femme, who recently competed at the prestigious Big Sing Finale. 🎤👏 She’s also the director of the Foveaux Harmony Chorus, where her passion for choral music continues to inspire singers of all ages.

A big thank you to Sarah for her incredible leadership and dedication to the choral community! 🎶💫
