Erica is the newest addition to the Skinks team, joining us as a tattoo apprentice 🩷🩷 Coming from a background in nail artistry, she brings years of hands-on creative experience and a strong eye for detail into tattooing. She’s already settled naturally into the studio, always drawing, learning, and taking in as much as she can while developing her skills and artistic style. We’re excited to have her as part of the team and look forward to watching her technique and direction continue to evolve over time! Learn a little more about Erica below👇
Q: Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Hamilton.
Q: What originally intrigued you to tattooing?
I’ve been drawing ever since I can remember. After five years working as a nail artist, I wanted a change in career. Nothing sounded more exciting than being able to create art in a new and different way.
Q: What style of tattooing are you most drawn to right now?
I’ve been really into high contrast tattoos with stippling used for shading – there’s something about how simple yet bold they are that I really love.
Q: What’s currently on repeat while you’re creating?
As much as I love music, I have to have a podcast or documentary going while doing any creating.
Q: What's your drink of choice?
You’ll never see me without a Red Bull – never the regular ones, always the flavoured ones.
Q: What’s a random fact people probably wouldn’t guess about you?
Every few days I’ll have a brand new set of nails. I get bored very fast with designs on myself and, being a nail tech, I’m able to change them whenever I want.
Q: What does your ideal day off look like?
I love being at home with my cats, Fawn and Freya. To me they’re my children, so being anywhere they are, I’m happy. I also have seven tattoos dedicated to them.
