Gisborne Centrestage Theatre Group is in preparation for it's biggest year to date, with 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in rehearsal, and auditions for 'Jersey Boys' in two weeks.

'Jersey Boys' tells the true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons group, from their beginning, break up, and reunion with all the drama in between.

The show, which was only released to community groups last year, is jam packed with all the Four Season and Frankie Valli including 'Walk like a man', 'My eyes adored you', 'Can't take my eyes off you', 'December '63, oh what a night', 'Beggin'', and 'Sherry'.

Audition forms are available now online at Gisborne Centrestage Theatre Group page, with spaces already going. People intending to audition must book a time, as there will be no open auditions.

Auditions are happening on Fri March 24th for ensemble, and Sat March 25th for named parts. 'Jersey Boys' has strong character roles for both males and females, with a trio of ladies required to perform the classic 60's song 'My boyfriend's back' among the female roles.
Other female roles include Frankie's girlfriend, wife and daughter.

For the men considering the four Jersey Boys, singing and movement ability is required, as will be a Jersey accent, but of course you will also learn these in the rehearsal process.
There are also other male roles available, full details available on the group's page.

If you want to audition for the show but cant make the March 24/25th weekend, you can submit a video audition, or make a time that works for you.
This is an exciting opportunity to be in this award winning show right here in Gisborne.

Meanwhile, another award winning show is deep in rehearsals, with the iconic 'Jesus Christ Superstar' going to stage from April 27th to May 6th at the War Memorial Theatre
Ticket sales are already steady, with a special price of $25 for the Tues May 2nd performance. No ticket prices are over $40, fantastic value for this show, which has been rated as the number one Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, and is currently touring the UK and USA celebrating 50 years.

We welcome Rain to the Centerstage whānau!!
Nau mai, haere mai Rain!!
We welcome her to her first musical theatre production and what an EPIC first show for her to be in!!

Rain loves hip hop and performing with her Dancefit crew. She also loves playing netball, hockey and touch rugby. She loves being a part of her kapa haka rōpū at kura, where she had the honour in doing the karanga in welcoming the new tauira-students to Mangapapa school. She hopes to carry on this journey in kapa haka.

Rain is excited to learn about musical theatre shows and she's loving being a part of the cast and crew. She is happy to have her friend Mila beside her. She is enthusiastic and can't wait to be on stage singing and dancing next to her amazing and talented māmā. She has looked up to her since watching her dancing videos from back in her days. Rain is hoping to follow in the footsteps of her Māmā and light up the stage just like her!!!
As they say like Māmā like tamāhine!!!
Like mother, like daughter!!!

Jaeda Mapu

I'm baaaccck!!! Guess who's back? Back again? Jaeda's back, tell your friends........) 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🙌🏼🙌🏼

After the successful musical production of Rock of Ages last year, Jaeda was pumped to get back on the stage ASAP!!!

When she heard that Centerstage was bringing JCS to Turanganui-a-Kiwa, and the new age version, she just knew that she needed to be a part of this EPIC show!!
Once Rock of Ages finished, she opened herself up to something completely new and stepped massively away from her dancing/singing comfort zones.

Enter stage left-Jane Bennett in Pride and Prejudice by Evolution Theatre Company, where Jaeda had the honour of bringing Jane to life!!
Being straight dialogue was something completely new for her and at times a challenge, but it was something she was determined to throw her all into!! She had an incredible time with an amazing all female cast, 'Stephanie' and a fabulous director Elizabeth.

Jaeda is super excited to bring JCS to life and ROCK OUT another epic show with the amazing Centerstage.
She is extremely excited to be sharing the stage with not only another incredible cast and crew but this time will be even more special by having her tamāhine-daughter Rain by her side, starring in her first ever production!!💕
