All done for the moment, very happy with how this one is looking! Now time for it to sit in the bedroom gallery for a few days before the final varnishing, and then it will be off to the Mairangi Arts center for their cash & carry exhibition.

Funny story about this one- I booked my place in the gallery before I had even painted anything... All I had was a blank canvas and the most generic title I could come up with 😅 And then looking through my camera roll I found the most perfect reference photo that I had taken over a year ago at the Miranda shore bird center. It called out to me immediately and I just knew it was the one.

Last year I drove 12 hours and stayed overnight to pick up a very cheap second hand scanner... that only now am I using for the first time 🤦‍♀️ My initial review is that it's well worth the investment! I'm very excited to have high resolution digital records of my art work, but the next job will be finding the time to go through and scan 13 years worth of sketchbooks 😅
