Three different textures of muka because they were all processed differently. Some raw and dried straight after hāro, the next had hāro and miro done, and then air dried. The third lot had hāro, washed and semi air dried, then after resaturating patu was done and finally the muka air dried, leaving the fibres softer and more flexible.

They all look and feel so very different, also will be used in different ways for different reasons, but yet all came from the same plant, Harakeke.

Understanding of the kupu used....
Muka - inner fibres of Harakeke
Hāro - scraping of the Harakeke leaves
Miro - twine or twist the fibres
Patu - beat or pound the fibres

I appreciate all of ya'll that go out of your way to show so much aroha with my journey, whether it's just by liking, commenting, sharing, or reposting. Every little bit of effort makes a huge difference. It keeps me going and keeps the motivation flowing. As some of us may know, it's not easy in the very beginning stages of growth online or off.

When it's just crickets, silence, and no notifications, it can make you question your skills, talent, abilities, quality, and worth. Social media has its pros and cons, and I am trying my best not to let the negatives bring me down.

I, and anyone in my position as a new 'creator' let's stay focused on the good, stay focused on our journeys, and some day soon we will look back remembering how hard it all was in the start 🥰.

Keep going, keep trying

Im in the process of creating natural and Tānekaha muka earrings. Adding to my Hineraumati collection piece by piece, staying within that original vibe I first created.

These are yet to be adorned with accessories and hardware, plus I will be adding two more colours, so Im keen to see how those look as well.
