Hon. Paul Goldsmith shared his admiration for a similar version of the Dinosaurs of Patagonia exhibition when it was presented at Te Papa. Now, this remarkable exhibition has arrived at the Auckland Showgrounds.

Imagine stumbling across a piece of prehistory while searching for lost sheep… That’s exactly how the journey to uncover Patagotitan, the largest dinosaur ever discovered, began.

In 2012, on a ranch in Patagonia’s Chubut Province, a man and his trusty dog made a discovery that would change history forever. What started as a curious, round rock led to an extraordinary palaeontological dig uncovering nearly 200 bones from a titanosaur, a creature weighing as much as 10 African elephants combined. 🐘🐘🐘

This fascinating story is beautifully captured in the book "Digging Up a Giant Dinosaur", written and illustrated by the scientists who led the excavation. It's the perfect keepsake to spark imaginations young and… more fossilised! 🌟
