Franklin Community Choir The Franklin Community Choir is a group of singers from around Franklin who love to sing and put on concerts for the local community.

We are based in Pukekohe, New Zealand. The Franklin Community Choir is an SATB choir with a membership of around thirty singers. The choir has attracted acclaimed conductors, soloists and instrumentalists for its concerts, and over the past 25 years has entertained Franklin audiences with diverse programmes performed to a high standard. Happy New Year! Franklin Community Choir will shortly be starting back for 2026. New members are very welcome. We are especially looking for any tenors and basses that would like to join us.
Practices are Mondays 7-9pm at St Andrew's Church, Pukekohe, starting 2 February. We will be learning Bach's St John Passion and Vaughan William's 5 Mystical Songs for a concert in May.

Highlights:
- World premier of Jonathan Dunlop's new work, Magnificat
- The Wellerman and pieces by John Rutter and Chris Artley
- solos by local Soprano, Gina Sanders

Just under 2 weeks now until Franklin Community Choir's next concert. A celebration of mainly NZ songs, featuring the premier performance of "Magnificat" by our very own conductor, Dr Jonathan Dunlop! Don't miss it!
Saturday 8 November 2pm at St Patrick's Church, Pukekohe
As usual, the concert will be followed by afternoon tea.

Planning for next weekend? Come along on Saturday to a concert of delightful music, followed by afternoon tea. Franklin Community Choir will be joined by these talented soloists:
Emma Jones (Soprano) - member of the New Zealand Youth Choir and recent recipient of the Marie Higgie Opera Prize of Potential at the NZ Opera School.
Kolitha Jayatunge (Tenor) - regular soloist with the St Peter's Cathedral Cantata Vespers and the baroque chamber choir, Vox Baroque.
Samuel McKeever (Bass) - an artist at The Aotearoa New Zealand Opera Studio, who last year was the baritone soloist for the Messiah with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Less than 2 weeks to go now until Franklin Community Choir's Choral Treasure concert. This will include favourites from The Armed Man and the Messiah, chosen to celebrate the long-time contribution made by Cathy Adams to the choir. As well as a founder member of the choir, Cathy served for many years on the choir committee.
Come and join us at 2:30pm on Saturday 24 June at St Patrick's Church.

Spring is calling and to celebrate Franklin Community Choir are presenting a concert of beautiful songs from around the world and across the centuries. The choir will be accompanied by organ and a string ensemble, who will also be playing a piece on their own. Add to that the world premier of a selection of psalms written by the conductor, Jonathan Dunlop. This is an afternoon you will not want to miss.
