Waking up with some drum noodling… doodling? Rhythm rigatoni?

A little noodle on the solo from The Grey. A musical ramen for your ears if you will… brain pasta.
Sonic spaghetti?

Here’s the full recording of my rainy workshop rendition of The Grey. This was the first track I wrote after I moved to Vancouver 12 years ago. Now back in Aotearoa, it feels like a lifetime ago, but the feeling still remains, there’s beauty in the grey, and there’s even more reason to burn bright in the darkness.

Seeing as it’s raining like crazy right now, I thought I may as well go out to the workshop, under a tin roof, and sing The Grey, a song I wrote about finding beauty in the in between. Free rain ASMR when I shut up. I’ll post the full recording soon!

Fungi fun times. Sometimes life is hard, and other times you get to go and be a nerd in the forest with your favourite person.

Here’s the rest of my tree recording of The Undertow. The world is pretty crazy right now, and it’s hard to see the light sometimes. But boy is love a gift, thanks for catching me in the undertow.

I specifically designed my drum shoes so that I could stand up and move around, but sometimes, you just gotta hit something. This is, as with most of my posts lately, fully improvised lyrics and music. Complete with human imperfections, like the fact my voice is fried from being sick for a few weeks. But hey, life is short, make the music, paint the picture, dance like no one is watching, because creating makes it all worth it.

Back in a tree, back making music. Doing something AI couldn’t do, wearing a singlet even though it’s cold AF This is a clip from my song The Undertow. Turns out it’s hard to sing and play when you’re balancing on a branch, but it’ll do! I’ll post the full clip as well… but the robot tells me reels over 3 minutes don’t get shared to new people.

In today’s episode of real, no AI content. Here is me, being content, sitting in a walnut tree, being nuts, and getting mad at the government. It was cold enough that I couldn’t feel my hands, and the ukulele neck needs major repairs to lower the action, but the sun is beautiful, and it was a comfy tree. Again fully improvised music and lyrics.

Oh so maybe I’m not in a tree this time, but here’s some 100% improvised music. Didn’t have a plan when I hit record on the looper, and this is what came out. It is ABOMINABLY framed… but hey, I’m not a camera guy.
