❤️🧡💛💚 From Scrap to Treasure 💙🩵💜🩷

For those who are new here, I make all my cushions and calendar panels from scraps I'm sent from other crafters. I usually pay a small amount for them but sometimes I just pay for the postage 🥰 Some pieces are only a couple of inches in size, while others are random shapes and quite a bit bigger. No new blankets are used in any of these designs as I get more satisfaction from a good challenge

If I don't have what I need, I make do, or ask on blanket groups if anyone has any scraps of a certain colour. I find these bright colours the most joyful to work with ❤️🧡💛💚💙🩵💜🩷

Being able to make a scene purely out of scrap fabrics is quite a magical experience. I'm turning scrap into things people can enjoy again!! You would never even know one of my pieces started off as just a pile of offcuts, would you?

Unfortunately all the Spring months are taken so I will put it in the November slot for now. I haven't made any for Autumn so far which is a bit weird. I do have plans for two of them at least so do not worry!

I'm in the midst of two new panels and still have the bathroom one to finish when the green arrives, hopefully this week! Busy, busy and having a great time still 🩷 I have quite the stack of panels now

Christmas 🎁 ❤️💚

I haven't shared this with you before as I don't usually share things that aren't sewing related online. However I'm going to this year as I was thinking it might just help someone else do something kind this Christmas ❤️ and that's the true meaning of Christmas isn't it? I'm also really distracted from sewing currently so now you know why ☺️

So for the last 9 years our family have organized with our community to make what we call Boxes of Love. They are wrapped shoe boxes of small gifts (value $25-30) to give to a child or teen locally, through our food bank, and to a preschool in Mangere. We also make some pamper packs for selected adults and school bag kits for the preschool

Everyone choose who they would like to make for from lists I put up on our FB page and at the end of November they drop their boxes off at our house for sorting. There are usually 250 or so gifts, some years we went well over 300 but life is getting harder for many people these days. Which is exactly we make these gifts, but it's getting harder for all of us!

Anyway this type of helping is so easy to set up for your own community if you're familiar with FB, so if you're keen to do the same, let me know and I can help you get started ❤️

This is all I have to show for myself today even though I worked hard all day 😔 Drawing flowers and cutting them out takes a minute

This calendar page was thought up by Sophie and she had some firm suggestions about the flowers 😅 The purple iris and the yellow freesias were must haves but she was pretty lenient on me for the rest after I started saying mean things to the flowers 😂 Well there were some really tricky ones!

I've cut out some more lovely letters for the top half of the panel so hopefully I will be able to share more tomorrow 🌸🌷🌼

P.S. We visited Cornwell Park yesterday to see the blossom trees🌸🌸 and it was so incredibly pretty! 🌸🌸🌸 So busy too! I was thinking how wholesome it was that people still take the time to enjoy some flowering trees 🩷

On this joyful summery afternoon, Sophie and I accidentally made a dozen whimsical wreaths out of our passion fruit vine. It was picnic basket with a gingham cloth kinda wholesome 🧺🍎 Would definitely recommend if you ever have any vines going spare

I obviously really love this one, the colours are everything but that LOVE machine is so hot 🔥

What do you think of the checkerboard background? ❤️🩷❤️🩷❤️ It felt utterly decadent using that much pink but it was absolutely worth it for the joy factor alone

I'm currently working on a winter page which I feel you're going to like. I'm also waiting to buy some hand dyed, vibrant green blanket next week, so I sort of need to wait for that to be able to incorporate green into the next panel. I shall work on making patterns for a bit maybe 🤔

I hope you have a joyful Friday! Let's hope the sun shines brightly again, it makes such a difference to one's day ☀️😄
