Meet Kelly Francis from Whenua Warrior! šŸ  This incredible initiative is transforming communities by empowering people to grow their own kai. Whenua Warrior installs and maintains raised garden beds in schools, marae and homes, focusing on sustainable and accessible gardening for everyone.

Kelly's mission is to reconnect whānau with the land and promote food sovereignty. By providing the knowledge and tools needed for gardening, Whenua Warrior helps reduce food insecurity and fosters a sense of community.

Whirinaki Round 2! With the Lands Whānau

We were blessed to share time with the Land whānau in Whirinaki on the Kūmara tuku iho series run by Jared Hiakita from ŌNuku

Our learnings:
- using NO tractors or machinery, clydesdale horses to move riverstone and silt
- 8 varieties of kūmara planted!
- off grid, no power, 30 people 4 generations papakainga
- reo Maori flowing through the whare!

Joseph has been growing kūmara for years and stocks the koanga institute with tipu for sale for varieties that can't be found anywhere else so far! He and his whānau were amazing and such an honor to learn from him
