The Rebel Alliance

The Rebel Alliance The Rebel Alliance Theatre Company was founded in 2006 by Anders Falstie-Jensen, Catherine Nola and Michael Downey. Five of these were NZ premieres.

The Rebel Alliance is an Auckland based theatre company with a specific focus on new New Zealand plays. Since our founding in 2006 we have presented eight New Zealand works. In October 2017 'Watching Paint Dry' will be our sixth premiere of a new New Zealand work.

2006 - 'The Orderly' by Michael Downey (premiere)
2006 - 'A Night of French Mayhem' by Moliere and Anders Falstie-Jensen (premiere)

07 - 'The Bomb' by Anders Falstie-Jensen (premiere)
2008 - 'Grace' by Sophie Dingemans (premiere)
2010 - 'Heroic Faun No. One' by Gregory Cooper
2011 - 'Standstill' by Anders Falstie-Jensen (premiere)
2011 - 'Yours Truly' by Albert Belz

For perplexing yet not completely accidental reasons the majority of these plays have been inspired by true stories.

And that's a wrap for Watching Paint Dry at TEATER V as part of CPH STAGE. What a wild and beautiful ride!

We got to work with our first Danish actor, young Søren, Sean had his first Danish sausages and we even managed to squeeze in a visit to The Little Mermaid.

We are now turning our attention to 'The Valentina'!

Thank you to all of you who have made it possible for us to tour our work by supporting our boosted campaign. We're at 79% and have 6 days left!

If you have the means to help us get across the finish line the donation link is in the comments.

We have arrived safely in Copenhagen and are looking forward to our first performance tomorrow at the mighty TEATER V as part of CPH STAGE.

Here is Sean Lynch admiring what surely is his top billing on the programme.

Thank you to all of you who have donated to our Boosted campaign to help us get here. We are sitting at a neat 79%, tantalizingly close to 80%!

If you want to be the one to push us to that point then the link is below.

Improvisation is a very important part of any performance but we recommend only to use this tool if you're working with actors who are willing to take risks and are not afraid of failing in front of the director.

A rare insight into the rehearsal process in the lead up to the European premiere of Watching Paint Dry at TEATER V as part of CPH Stage at the end of this month.

We are seeking a bit of help towards the costs of our 2026 tour of 'Watching Paint Dry' and 'The Valentina'.

And no donation is too small thanks to hugely generous match funding from the Gow Family Foundation, who will contribute dollar for dollar whatever you donate up to a value of $2500

This weekend we had a phenomenal remount of 'Watching Paint Dry' at Te Pou Theatre.

The remount also gave us an opportunity to launch our Boosted NZ crowdfunding campaign to raise some funds for our 2026 touring this year of 'Watching Paint Dry' and 'The Valentina'.

If you've got the means, which we know is by no means is a given these days, we hope you will be able to support us.

We are 39% of our way there! So far but also. So near!
