The Rebel Alliance

IMMENSE PRESSURE!

This weekend we're reviewing all the entries into Tauranga Arts Festival and Ngā Hau o Rēhia Baycourt Theatre's colouring in competition for The Valntina.

Children could choose between the Ngan Rocket or The Valentina. All materials and colours were allowed. There were no creative parameters given.

Due to the gravity of the decision being made we saw it necessary to bring in an external consulting panel consisting of senior arts curators, strategic planners and expert in various other fields to help us through this process.

Winners will be announced on Monday.

We had a fantastic time at Hawke's Bay Arts Festival this weekend and are now recharging the boosters before heading to Tauranga Arts Festival and Nelson Arts Festival.

The performance in Hawke's Bay was also very special because our new Ellen, Jorja Baylee, knocked her debut with The Rebel Alliance out of the park!

We recommend to all theatre companies in Aotearoa that they work with Jorja.

Ellen's costume is now waiting for Talia Pua, who will perform as Ellen in Tauranga and Nelson.

An awesome group of people, both onstage and offstage have been through a long process of rehearsals, God-knows how many spreadsheets and email exchanges, fittings and drawing of plans that has eventually lead us to our upcoming seasons at Hawke's Bay Arts Festival (Oct 11), Tauranga Arts Festival (Oct 26) and Nelson Arts Festival (Oct 30 & 31)

We hope to see you, with or without your kids, in a theatre near you.

Thanks Creative New Zealand for supporting this tour!

Powerhouse performer Talia Pua, whom Tauranga Arts Festival and Nelson Arts Festival audiences will see next month in The Valentina, has done a great interview with The Big Idea where she talks about everything from colour coding email labels to the moment when she (fortunately for all of us) decided to take the plunge and become a full time artist.

Make yourself a cuppa and have a read.

Theatre connoisseurs can also see Talia in action in PAT - Proudly Asian Theatre's upcoming production of her play 'Pork and Poll Taxes from Sep 16 to 20, which is THIS WEEK!)

If you want tickets the link is in ze comments.

The Valentina flies again this October!!!

It's been 2 years since we premiered the show at Auckland Live's Herald Theatre as part part of Auckland Arts Festival. Since then we've done a whole lotta work and a whole lotta hustling to make it possible to remount this new version of the show and here we finally are!

If you want to go to space come join us at the Hawke's Bay Arts Festival or at the Tauranga Arts Festival. If you can't make it to either of those come to the Nelson Arts Festival!!!

Booking details for each festival are in the comments below.

Thanks to funding from Creative New Zealand and a heck of a lot of supporters from Boosted NZ

And thanks too to Ross McCormack and Wesley Dowdell who couldn't make it this time around but didn't mind being on the poster anyways.
