Through the collections: 40 Years of Homosexual Law Reform
Free event, Saturday 1 August, 10am – 1pm
National Library of New Zealand, Wellington

Explore collection items at your own pace – from ephemera and audiovisual taonga to books – and create your own poetic response.

The day includes a collection viewing with friendly curators, screenings of Thin Edge of the Wedge, and a blackout poetry activity using found materials from Papers Past, presented by Blackout Poetry Aotearoa and supported by Chris Tse (New Zealand Poet Laureate 2022–2025).

Free event. All welcome.

Who will judge the 2025 Wham Bam Tauranga Poetry Slam? WE DON'T KNOW! Will it be you? 😉

Over three rounds, twelve local performance poets will try to win the hearts of the audience judges, ultimately crowning the new Slam Champ. Slams are fun, inclusive spaces and whether you perform sonnets, rap, poetry, comedy, or free verse, all styles are welcome in this lively format. The point is not the points, the point is the poetry.
