Serenity here is not passive. It is an active, resonant force—held within architecture, myth, and collective memory. Through this composition, I seek to create a space where the viewer can feel the weight and lightness of presence at once, where the past reverberates into the present, and where stillness becomes a point of beginning.

Echoes of Serenity unfolds as a contemplative mapping of place, memory, and origin, rooted in the sacred landscape of Swayambhunath Stupa. At the center stands a guardian lion—both sentinel and witness—embodying protection, strength, and continuity. This figure anchors the composition, holding space between the visible and the spiritual, between what endures and what transforms.

The painting draws on the mythology of the valley’s origin, in which the primordial lotus gave rise to the self-existent flame—Swayambhu. This origin story is not treated as distant folklore but as a living echo that continues to shape Kathmandu's consciousness. The lion, in this context, becomes more than a guardian of place; it becomes a guardian of transition—suggesting the quiet emergence of a renewed civilization rooted in awareness, resilience, and spiritual continuity, an attempt to evoke the feeling of being there. The work invites the viewer to enter not just a site, but an atmosphere, where silence, movement, and memory coexist.

Through this composition, I seek to create a space where the viewer can feel the weight and lightness of presence at once, where the past reverberates into the present, and where stillness becomes a point of beginning.

The Glorious Era of Serenity is the painting about the Water Spout and it's importance on contemporary time. The painting explore Kumbheshwor Hiti as a sacred convergence of water, mythology, and Malla-period architecture. Rooted in a folklore, the flowing water symbolizes its believed source from Gosainkunda Lake, connecting the Himalayan sacred landscape with the daily life of the Kathmandu Valley. The makara spouts and carved forms represent water as a divine presence rather than a mere utility.
The hiti and temple are visually assembled into a unified structure, reflecting the golden era of the Malla period, when architecture, spirituality, and urban life were deeply interconnected. The tiered pagoda form signifies harmony between the cosmos and human settlement, while ritual figures ground the mythological narrative in lived tradition.
Through warm golden tones and layered symbolism, the work honors Kumbheshwor Hiti as a living heritage—an enduring testimony to indigenous knowledge, spiritual ecology, and the cultural brilliance of the Malla era.
