Calligraphy artist .calligraphy A.K.A. Sulochana Rai Shakya blends Gothic, English & Copperplate with Nepali heritage✨

Her journey began with inspiration from her husband’s work, but her love for elegant handwriting started in school. ✨
She blends calligraphy with ancient Nepali imagery — celebrating art & culture in every stroke.

Working in Gothic, English & Copperplate, her favorite form is the Calligram. “Circular forms bring balance and harmony,” she says.

Manila Rai A.k.A is an emerging artist from Kerkha, Purba, Nepal, whose practice is guided by intuition, emotion, and self-discovery. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, she uses art as a space for reflection, exploring personal experiences, emotions, and the relationship between inner thought and visual expression. Through an evolving practice of experimentation, her work seeks to transform intangible feelings into significant visual forms.

Beyond the Rift

Beyond the Rift explores the emotional space between separation and connection. Through an abstract landscape of layered textures, muted tones, and luminous light, the painting reflects moments of uncertainty, reflection, and transformation. The contrasting forms create a sense of distance, while the glowing central passage suggests movement toward hope and renewal. Inspired by inner experiences and imagined landscapes, the work invites viewers to consider the boundaries they encounter within themselves and the world around them. Rather than depicting a specific place, the painting creates an atmosphere of contemplation where darkness and light coexist. Beyond the Rift speaks to resilience, the possibility of change, and the unseen paths that emerge beyond moments of rupture and transition.

dhakal is artist from our hometown Damak, Purba, Nepal ,inspired by spiritual symbolism, cosmic energy, fire and the mysteries of human consciousness.
His artworks blend bold colors, sacred geometry and emotional depth to create visionary experiences beyond ordinary reality.

Done at the 5th edition of Purba Art Fair & Exhibition ,

This painting traces the journey of life, energy, and spiritual awareness. The eye above represents the consciousness of creation, while the central tree symbolizes life’s endless growth and rebirth. The fire’s power and surrounding sacred geometry reflect cosmic balance and inner awakening.

Know the Artist : Binod Limbu
Binod Limbu is a prominent contemporary Nepali artist and painter. He has earned wide recognition for his landscape paintings that express deep cultural memories and connections to Nepal's diverse terrains.Background and Artistic StyleEducation: He completed his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in 2022 from Tribhuvan University's Lalitkala Campus.Origins: He grew up in Damak, Jhapa.Style: His work frequently depicts vast mountain terrains like Mustang, blending dream and memory through textured, sculptural paint strokes.

The Artwork reflects hanging flowers in Nepali villages as living symbols of care, time and continuity.
More than decoration, they embody the quiet, rhythms of rural life , growing alongside the hopes and everyday experiences of the community.
Through a subtle observational lens, the work translates this intimate gesture into a reflection on belonging, memory and the beauty found within ordinary acts of nurturing.

Know the Artist :
Subodh Simbu A.K.A Artist

Subodh Simbu is a visual artist based in Kathmandu, Nepal, originally from Urlabari, Morang. He is a member of the Yakthung Cho collective, an indigenous group of artists and activists. Through drawing, painting and photography, He explores complex human emotions and thoughts, inviting viewers to reflect on the depth of the human mind through metaphors and atmospheric compositions. His work has been showcased in various exhibitions, including the Buds XII annual exhibition, and the Next-2024 group exhibition. He has also participated in residency programs such as the Young Artists Studio Support Program at Bikalpa Art Center and workshops including Sirjana watercolor workshop, a woodcarving workshop.

Description of the Artwork done live at the 2nd edition of Purba Art Fair & Exhibition‼️

This painting is inspired by the contemporary phenomenon where children refuse to eat, sleep, or engage in activities without the distraction of a mobile phone. It reflects on society's growing dependence on technology and its impact on young minds. Constant exposure to screens releases dopamine, a chemical associated with pleasure, leading children to seek this artificial high repeatedly. This reliance can be detrimental to their brain development and learning. Through this live painting, I critique the culture that substitutes traditional playgrounds with digital devices, highlighting the need to reconsider our values and the influence of technology on childhood.

Purba Art Fair & Exhibition presents

THE BE : FASHION RESEARCH MOODBOARD & DRAPING WORKSHOP ‼️

Led by London-based Fashion designer Thebe, this 6-hour intensive introduced 18 participants from Province 1 to the early stages of the fashion design process — research, storytelling, mood boards, and draping.

The research wasn’t limited to fashion. Participants drew inspiration from art, films, books, culture, politics, architecture, and everyday life to develop their own visual language. Fashion became the way to translate that research into form.

Workshop breakdown:
Research & Inspiration: How designers gather ideas. Personal style, identity, storytelling through design.
Collage & Mood Board: Translate research into visual concepts — digitally or with magazines, fabrics, textures.
Intro to Draping + Exercise: Learn how fabric behaves on the body. Work in pairs to experiment with shape, silhouette, layering. Focus on creative expression, not perfection.

Fashion design is not only about sewing garments. It is about research, storytelling, personal identity, and experimentation. The aim was to open new ways of thinking about fashion.
