Altrese Throndsenโs journey in art began at a young age, shaped by passion, resilience, and determination despite limited resources. She joined her first art competitions in elementary school, relying on the support of her teachers for materials. Although she did not win most of these early contests, they helped her build experience, discipline, and a deep love for her craft. She continued to join competitions and attend free workshops throughout her school years, including one led by Mr. Emmanuel Salanda.
Her persistence paid off in senior high school, where she began winning multiple competitions. With the strong support of her mentor, Sir Howell Sabularse, she achieved a major milestone by placing 2nd in a regional competition while representing her school. In college, she further developed her artistic journey by joining SICAP, Inc., a community-based art organization, where she collaborated with fellow artists and contributed to initiatives such as free workshops, face painting activities, and exhibitionsโwhile still actively joining competitions.
Now based in Norway, a country that values and supports art, Altrese continues to create and explore different art mediums as a personal passion and does face painting as a side hustle. Having experienced what it means to lack access to resources, and now getting a chance to spread her wings gracefully and freely, she now feels a strong purpose: to give back.
With a heart rooted in gratitude, she hopes to support aspiring artists in Tayabas, her hometown rich in culture and creativity, by creating opportunities she once had. Through workshops, shared knowledge, and accessible art initiatives, Altrese wants to inspire others to pursue their passion, regardless of their circumstances.
