Forgive the bad lighting, I am too tired to fix it.
Interesting day if has been! From accidentally getting locked out of the temporary studio and my model having limited time to sit for me so most of the highlights and value changes has been guess work😅 Regardless, it’s been a nice painting session. It’s is unfinished due to limited time with the model but o shall leave it so.

When something doesn’t work out, it’s perfectly fine to gesso it and start from the beginning again. Although it’s pretty annoying!😅

This would have been my first big one (50”x60”) and something I began 2 days ago, spending many hours on it but I realise it’s not working. From someone who’s pretty hard on myself if I do not get it right, it can be quite disheartening. You feel stupid, inadequate but these are times one must remember- mistakes are the ones that eventually lead to success💕

Here’s to trying again and to also remember how far I have even though I am still recovering from Fibromyalgia! Here’s to progress over perfectionism!

Every day, every painting experience is a learning curve. Sometimes I paint stuff to finish, some I paint just to have fun and to release expectation.

Oh wow! I was looking through my photos and guess what I foundđŸ€© My earliest attempts at cat paintings; even before I learnt the art of oil paintings! These are many years old, done with acrylics and water colours. The middle painting is my first attempt at hieroglyphs: neb Khawu (Lord of appearances).

I cannot believe how far I have come! Never underestimate yourself or give up on dreams.

Now that the paintings are dry, I can finally put on the inscription. For those of you don’t know, I have been studying Middle Egyptian since 2021, translating stelae and literature texts from hieroglyphs/hieratic to English. So in order to create specific texts for the Tamiwt series, I just flip the process!😊
