HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Faust, real name BÄrd Guldvik Eithun (born April 21, 1974), is a Norwegian drummer. He is known for his work on the early albums of the black metal band Emperor (1992-1994, since 2013). He is also a lyricist for several bands, including Zyklon. He also plays with bands such as Aborym (since 2006), Blood Tsunami (since 2005), Scum (since 2002), and Studfaust.
Faust grew up in the small village of Kvikne, population about 500, located in central Norway in the Ăsterdalen valley. At 16, he moved to Lillehammer, where he lived for two years. Having met Euronymous in the late 1980s, Faust became involved in the burgeoning black metal scene and eventually moved to Oslo to work at Euronymous's store. In the early 1990s, in addition to playing in several bands (Thorns, Imposter, Emperor), Faust also published the magazine Orcustus.
In August 1992, Faust visited his parents in Lillehammer. Returning home on August 21st, Faust encountered a gay man, Magne Andreassen, in a park. Andreassen invited Faust to go deeper into the woods, and Faust agreed. Once they were in the thicket, Faust pulled out a knife and stabbed Andreassen to death. The police had no suspects until Varg Vikernes was arrested for Euronymous's murder. During the interrogation of young black metal musicians, some pointed the finger at Faust. He was arrested and eventually confessed to the murder. The court sentenced him to 14 years in prison, but after serving 9 years and 4 months, he was released early in 2003.
Some media outlets speculated that the murder was linked to Satanism or fascism; Eithun later stated in an interview that he "has never been a Satanist or a fascist." Jörn Tunsberg of the band Hades Almighty also claimed that the murder was "impulsive" and unrelated to black metal
