Another Svalbard memory 💕

One of many parts of being a Petroleum Geologist Engineer is experiencing, learning, and understanding the land formation in the Arctic region in Svalbard. Combining education and travel is truly a dream come true!

Fun facts about this post:
1) Sukkertoppen is a peak in Svalbard. Sukkertoppen is situated nearby to Funken Lodge (formerly Spitsbergen Hotel), and close to Hotel Spitsbergen 'Funken'
2) Gruvefjellet is a mountain in Svalbard and has an elevation of 434 metres. Gruvefjellet is situated nearby to Longyeardalen, and close to Gruvedalen
3) This is me smiling after a long walk. We reached two mountain tops and the view was spectacular!

Another Svalbard memory 💕

During our class expedition, we spotted some walrus swimming nearby. We needed to keep our distance for both safeties of ourselves and the wild animals 🐳

Fun facts about this post:
1) During summertime, colonies of walrus often spend their time resting on beaches
2) An adult male is around 3,5 metres long and weighs about 1500kg, while the females grow to around 2,5 metres in length and can weigh about 900kg

Another Svalbard memory 💕

When we hear North-pole, we immediately remember Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the elves, and his famous ten reindeer. Unfortunately, I have been on the North-pole, and I have not seen Santa Claus but I have seen his reindeer 😆😆

Fun facts about this post:
1) Svalbard reindeer tend to form small groups of about five members during the summer
2) Svalbard reindeer is the only reindeer species in Svalbard
3) Svalbard reindeer looks like "Sven" reindeer from Frozen movies

1) Anyone travelling outside this signs must carry a firearm and flare guns to scare off a polar bear. This sign is so popular and has been one of the main tourist spots in Svalbard
2) This was at 12:00am in the midnight
