The choir was originally formed as EDTChoir, with one purpose only, to take a gold medal in the world's largest choir competition; World Choir Games'12. The founders Erland Dalen and Thomas Caplin are two of Norway's most talented and renowned conductors. They have both won numerous international choir competitions and earned several prizes with many vocal groups and choirs. The autumn of 2012 "EDTChoir" changes it's name to "Defrost Youth Choir", with a new goal
To create and build people through song on the principals of tolerance, solidarity, morality and respect. The choir is now lead by Thomas Caplin only.
