Hiking in the beautiful Norwegian mountains or a city break?
The fjords of Norway
The fjords of Norway have a stunning scenery with deep blue fjords, spectacular waterfalls, and sharp snow-capped mountains that tower high above the water. Discover the fjords while hiking with a fjord view, experience the scenery from a breath-taking viewpoint or cruise on the water.
The fjords are ready to be discovered, are you?
Wild nature and beautiful white beaches. The archipelago of Lofoten is well know worldwide for it’s amazing fishing opportunities, splendid scenery and picturesque villages. From mountain peaks to arctic fjords, you can hike, surf, paddle kayak between the small islands and several others memorable activities. A visit to the Lofoten Islands will be a memory for a lifetime.
The glaciers of Norway
Did you know that some of Europe’s larges ice-caps are found in Norway? You may climb them, hike them, marvel at them- even ski on them in the middle of the summer. Among our most popular glaciers are the Folgefonna, Jostedalsbreen and Hardangerjøkulen. As there are around 1600 glaciers in Norway, glaciers can be visited from many places. At first sight, you can’t fail to feel the massive untameable power inherent in the glaciers.
Tromsø during winter
Northern Norway is among the best and the most exciting places in the world to see the northern light. For the locals, the northern lights are a part of daily life, and an inspiration for art, mythology and legends. For others, it is an example of how beautiful science may be. Although not possible to see the northern light during summer, it’s a great location for seeing the midnight sun.
The most famous tourist attraction in Ryfylke, towers an impressive 604 metres over the Lysefjord. Preikestolen har been named one of the world’s most spectacular viewing points by both CNN Og and Lonely Planet. Looking out over the Lysefjord from Preikestolen is an experience of a lifetime. We recommend combining the hike with a fjord cruise.
At the western edge of the Hardangervidda plateau, you’ll find Trolltunga – the most spectacular rock formation in Norway. Trolltunga is a rock jutting into space 700 metres above Ringedalsvatnet lake! The hike through high-mountain terrain up to Trolltunga is long and demanding, but you are rewarded with magnificent views. The trail to Trolltunga, situated at 1180 metres, is signposted by the Norwegian Trekking Association. The trip is best suited for experienced hikers as the estimated hiking time is around seven to ten hours.
Vestkapp and Hoddevik
Vestkapp «Cap West» is the most western point on the Norwegian mainland and is located on the top of the mountain Kjerringa (497 meter high). The restaurant Vestkapp is located on the top, and from here you have panoramic view over the North Sea.
Hoddevik is also located at the same peninsula as the Vestkapp, and is well known for being a perfect surf spot, with waves of world-class quality.
Cycling the Rallar road from Finse to Flåm
The Rallar road is an old construction road made for the building of the Bergensbane railway. The cycling roads starts at Finse at 1222 (meter high), and ends in Flåm with the Sognefjord. The road is 80 km long, and on the tour, you can see some of the best scenery Norway has to offer. At the starting point at Finse, one can see the Hardangerjøkulen glacier. The adventure doesn’t need to end in Flåm, as this is a great starting point for a boat trip in the Sognefjord.
Loen Skylift and Via ferrata
Loen is a small village situated innermost in Nordfjord, below the great Jostedalsbreen Glacier. This is the home of Loen Skylift, and the perfect place for exploring wild Norwegian nature. The Loen Skylift is a cable car from the fjord to Mt. Hoven (1011 meter high). The more adventurous souls may climb the via ferrata from the fjord to the top of the mountain. Loen is also a great starting point for a visit to Jostedalsbreen Glacier.
National Scenic Roads of Norway
The national scenic roads of Norway make the perfect road trip. It compromises of 18 different routes all over our country. Among our favourites is Trollstigen and Atlanterhavsvegen. Both roads are found in the north-western part of Norway. The mountain pass Trollstigen is famous for its dramatic view over the mountains and the valley underneath. Atlanterhavsvegen, “Atlantic ocean road”, is regarded as one of the most scenic roads in the world.
