This wonderful Rheinmetall typewriter, finished in two complementary shades of green, reminds me of the play of sunlight on grass in a summer garden. It was found in the Bavaria region in Germany and has been preserved in wonderful original condition. The green finish—all original—is in superb condition. The original chrome remains bright and fresh.

Manufactured by Rheinmetall-Borsig in Sömmerda, the KsT earned a reputation for robust engineering and dependable mechanical performance. While less widely known than some of its contemporaries, it remains one of the finest German portable typewriters of its period, combining thoughtful industrial design with a remarkably smooth and confident typing action.

This wonderful typewriter is fully reconditioned and comes with its original carrying case in very fine condition, original cleaning brushes and polishing cloth, and a new ribbon so that you can start typing immediately!

An exceptionally well-preserved 1949 Olympia Progress typewriter, complete with its original carrying case and showing essentially no signs of wear or use. The original finish, decals, keyboard, brightwork and mechanical components remain remarkably fresh, giving the machine the appearance of having been carefully stored for decades rather than regularly used.
The Progress model occupies an important place in Olympia history. Introduced in the early 1930s as an improved version of Olympia’s first portable, it established the engineering lineage that led to the SM model-line of typewriters. The SM model-line is one of the most important, celebrated and influential of the Olympia typewriters. The Progress combined compact proportions with unusually substantial construction and a controlled, precise typing action that still feels remarkably smooth and steady.

This rare and extraordinary typewriter is one of the most complete surviving factory Fraktur typewriters known. Manufactured in 1985 for the “Bund für deutsche Schrift” (Association for the German Script), it combines the exceptionally rare factory Fraktur typeface with its original documentation recording delivery to the association, factory identification tag, spare Fraktur type slugs, and original carrying case—all preserved in exceptional original condition. Unlike earlier Fraktur typewriters, the Erika 127 was manufactured in 1985 and belongs to the final generation of mechanical writing machines, allowing the distinctive beauty of this historic typeface to be enjoyed with a light, fluid typing action that is both practical for extended writing and remarkably easy to master.

Few typefaces are as closely associated with the cultural history of a nation as Fraktur. Developed from late medieval blackletter scripts, it became the principal printed typeface of the German-speaking world for almost four centuries. Although its official use declined during the twentieth century, Fraktur experienced a remarkable revival among typographers, calligraphers, book artists, and collectors who value its extraordinary visual richness and unmistakable historical character. Typed on paper, Fraktur produces a page that recalls fine letterpress printing more readily than conventional typescript, giving even ordinary correspondence a distinctive presence.

The *Bund für deutsche Schrift* was founded to preserve and promote the traditional German scripts—Fraktur for printing and Sütterlin or Kurrent for handwriting—at a time when they had largely disappeared from everyday use. During the 1980s the association commissioned a limited number of Fraktur-equipped Erika typewriters from VEB Robotron so that members could continue producing authentic Fraktur documents using modern mechanical equipment.

This fine and rather scarce Halda typewriter is distinguished by its exceptional state of preservation—for both the typewriter and the carrying case. Its original forest-green “crinkle” finish retains remarkable depth and uniformity. The chrome fittings are equally well preserved and the keytops are bright and shiny as if fresh from the factory. It comes with its two original metal ribbon spools which are critical for proper operation. This Halda was found outside of Düsseldorf in a barn (yes, it’s a “barn find”) on a large estate there. Other details of its provenance are unknown.

This fine and rare Everest typewriter, found near Vienna, Austria, is remarkable for its fine state of preservation. And remarkable also for the context in which it was originally purchased and then rediscovered eight decades later. Although truly a museum-piece, this typewriter is ready for regular use, and to be visually appreciated again after decades in an attic closet.

How has this beautiful typewriter survived from the social and economic devastation of the early post-war years until today in such an exceptional state? Who had the means and the “vision” to purchase such an extraordinary typewriter at such a time? So many questions and so few answers. Read the full description on our website.

The Gyonne Elgin Collegiate reflects the high quality that emerged from Japan’s post-war industrial expansion. Compact in form, this model is distinguished by an exceptionally soft and responsive typing action, combining lightness of touch with a beautifully designed outer body.

Marketed under the comparatively uncommon Gyonne brand-name, the Elgin Collegiate was designed as a practical portable typewriter. This one, manufactured in 1960, is finished in a well-preserved eggshell blue enamel that complements the model’s clean, understated design.

The LARGEST typeface ever commercially produced! This Olivetti typewriter, manufactured in 1976, is technically a Linea 98 model but was marketed as the “GIGANT” (trans: Giant) due to its exceptionally large typeface. The size of this typeface—only 5 characters-per-inch—makes it the largest font-size ever included on a commercially sold typewriter.

No larger typeface was ever commercially manufactured. Different variants of similar, but smaller typefaces, with 6 characters-per-inch, are known including: Smith-Corona’s “Speech-Riter #29”, “Sight Saver #30” and “Basic Writing #67”; Remongton’s “Sight Saver”; and Olympia’s “Bulletin #28”. But ONLY Olivetti made the gigantic 5 character-per-inch “Gigant” typeface.

Comparable to the better-known “Bulletin” type style, it produces bold, highly legible characters. This was a niche advertising/display font comprising uppercase characters only. It was intended for headings, notices, display work, and documents requiring immediate visual impact. Typewriters equipped with Gigant typeface were produced in exceptionally limited numbers and are seldom encountered today.
