Pretty people are better people, according to a lot of people.

It's called the 'halo effect'.

A 2022 study reported that faces rated more attractive were also rated more responsible and trustworthy (among various positive things).

The 'halo effect' has been known for about 100 years, but if you listen well to Scottish folklore, you know it has been around longer.

In the olden days, the Scottish folklore story of the kelpie was used to warn women to be wary of good looking strangers.

Kelpies are shape shifters that most often appear as a grey horse near water. Their bodies are magically adhesive, which allows the kelpie to drag people into the water and drown them when petted or mounted.

So the next time you see an attractive stranger, remember this and don't make it easy for them to take you. Okay?

You'd think moving to the other side of the world would've scared the F out of me ...

It didn't.

Going to the carwash for the first time?
Yes, that absolutely sent me into a meltdown. (Luckily my boyfriend went along💓)

That's severe anxiety for you. Illogical, out of proportion and super tiresome.

There's nothing wrong with feeling nervousness or even a bit of anxiety when you face new or high-stake situations. That's normal.

But when it keeps you in hiding, from living a normal life or the life you want - that's not good.
It's hard, but you gotta work through that. Because unfortunately, anxiety keeps reassuring itself when you give in to it or find an escape route. Eventually, things only get worse ...

Did you ever work through anxiety for something you really wanted or had to do?

Sometimes you need to escape reality - it's a break from everyday life stresses.

Through games, books, movies etc. you can immerse yourself in a different world with whole different storylines and challenges. As long as you do it in a healthy way, disconnecting from reality takes care of your mental well-being.

For me it started with reading books and drawing. Then came PC games (I always LOVED games where you built sh*t, like Zoo Tycoon), watching anime and writing. Even later, I added DnD (which I unfortunately had to quit again soon).

How do you like to escape reality?

Us fantasy creatures usually love nature and the outdoors.

It's a much more peaceful existence than cities.

The smell of trees and grass is much more pleasant than that of emissions and ... whatever else you smell in a city.

The silence of nature is like a reset-button.

Living next to a small forest is like heaven on earth.

I religiously let my plants die because of dehydration, though.

What are you? A city or a nature gal? Or some mysterious hybrid?

Does your anxiousness rule your life?

Being cautious and nervous is normal. Especially about new situations.

But when these feelings keep you inside, away from things you would like to do ... that's when you may wanna seek help.

Facing your fears is hard, especially alone. But pushing through and taking action can lead to personal growth and a sense of accomplishment. It can build resilience and confidence.

By stepping out of your comfort zones, you challenge yourself to grow and learn from new experiences.

However, don't make too big a step: it can be a double-edged sword and set you back further.

Still, don't let fear hold you back - take that first step. Even if it's tiny, even if it feels daunting.

Do you believe in fairies?

If yes, you're not alone. More than 50% of Icelandic people do - or did, in 1998!
They call them Huldufólk.

I don't believe in fairies, but I think it would be awesome if they existed. Just like looots of other mythical beings 😜

The meaning of 'fairy' has differed over times: from any magical creature, such as goblins and gnomes, to specific, human-like creatures with magical powers and a knack for trickery.

We face challenges all the time, but some seem impossible to beat.

The Lernaen hydra symbolises these challenges.

Not weird, considering that slaying a nine-headed serpentine water monster was a task designed by Hera to kill a demi-god.

But luckily the world isn't trying to kill us, although it seems that way sometimes.

It may take an hour, a day or a decade, but eventually you will overcome - or at least learn to deal with - these challenges. As long as you keep telling yourself you can.

Heracles also killed the hydra eventually, with both brutal strength and cleverness, and indispensable aid.

Just cuteness and vibes. That's all this baby dragon is.

Baby dragons don't always have wings already.

I kinda like that idea, but simultaneously I don't see it make a lot of sense biologically.

Birds also don't start growing wings from a certain age: they are there from the start. Maybe not strong enough to fly, but they're there.

On the same page: who came up with scaly eggs for dragons? Seems to me like a very uncomfortable way to pass for mama dragon.

But they're fantasy creatures, so as long as the aesthetics are awesome, who cares about practicality, right?

(Well, I do 😅)

(Start of a) Wyvern drawing from the bus back from Paris. Was so shaky I got fed up with it 😂

Ever wished you were never born? Blame Clotho.

In Greek mythology, Clotho is the youngest of the Moirae - Fates - and responsible for spinning the thread of life.

Meaning she decided that and where you were born.

Her sisters Lachesis and Atropos measured and cut this thread.

A month ago, I started on a new triptych painting about the mysterious and obscure journey from life to death, with one of the Moirae on each panel.

Clotho's is almost done.

Wanna floow the progress of the other two?
