We are proud to be able to offer this extraordinary typewriter from a well-known European collector. It is a 1940 Torpedo Model 15A in pristine condition.
The typeface/font is a rare Grosse Schrägschrift (Large Italic). This is among the most uncommon type styles offered by Torpedo. It has an elegant presence that is expressive and beautifully legible. It has been fully reconditioned by Acme and is ready for many decades of further typing.

This typewriter is in remarkably fine condition and comes with the original case, in near perfect condition also, and the original case-key.

Manufactured in Frankfurt during the final years of Torpedo’s pre-war production, the Torpedo 15A reflects a period of disciplined engineering and restrained industrial design within German mechanical manufacture. Introduced in the early 1930s, the model 15A refined its designer Herbert Etheridge’s segment-shift mechanism and established the foundation for Torpedo’s later portable machines.

This fine and rare typewriter is available now at Acme. See the links in our bio/profile.

Hebrew language typewriters occupy a distinct position within the world of mechanical writing machines. Produced in very small numbers, they are seldom encountered in this pristine condition. This example includes an unusual feature: a rare “dot matrix” key (see photo) used for security when typing an amount on a bank-check, and for other purposes.

This fine and rare Olympia typewriter is available now at Acme. See the links in our bio/profile.

Acme is back! And we have this beautiful Hermes typewriter to start things off.
Introduced in 1935 by E. Paillard & Cie, Yverdon, the Hermes Baby reflects a decisive moment in the evolution of portable writing instruments. Conceived as a reduction to essentials, it combined lightness with mechanical precision, enabling reliable use beyond the office environment.
The Baby remained in continuous refinement over several decades without alteration to its fundamental architecture. By the 1970s, production had reached a mature and stable form, noted for its consistency of action and durability in use. This Baby, manufactured in 1976, is a tremendous example of Hermes typewriters of this late period.

A 1926 Erika Model 3 Typewriter with Fraktur Typeface (sometimes called “Gothic” typeface)

This is an fine Erika Model 3 portable typewriter, manufactured in 1926, and equipped with the rare Fraktur typeface. It comes with its original case and a new ribbon.

Fraktur was historically used throughout German-speaking Europe for books, official documents, and newspapers. Typewriters fitted with this dramatic style typeface were produced in very small numbers. The typeface produces bold, angular characters that evoke the visual culture of early twentieth-century Central Europe.

This typewriter comes from the collection of a prominent Austrian collector specializing in rare typefaces. It has been thoroughly and properly reconditioned including the platen.

Available now at Acme! See the links in out bio/profile.

The leather case is a rare “upgrade” for this early 3000 model Hermes.

“Vertical Script” typeface—what a beauty! The “Vertical Script” typeface is an interesting and rare variation of more common italic/script typefaces. This is an extraordinarily fine 1956 Underwood Quiet Tab DeLuxe Typewriter, in a fine colour combination that is all original. This typewriter is from a prominent Austrian collector who specializes in rare typefaces. It has a new platen from Alessio Vescovo of Vescovo Restauri in Padua, Italy.

Are your ready for a Meisterklasse in typewriters? Meisterklasse (Master Class) is what the “M” means in “Model M”.

This example of the renowned Erika Model M is from 1939 and has extra keys for Greek letters and other symbols. But, aesthetically, look at the beauty of those keys in alternating colours. Somehow they give this typewriter a remarkably vibrant and fresh look. A marvelous contrast to the standard “black & white” Model M.

It is available now at Acme. See the links in our bio.
Or contact me for more information or to be the next owner of this extraordinary typewriter. The original keyboard is German standard QWERTZ, but it can be converted to QWERTY, if requested.

With a typing feel that is as smooth and soft as they come, this is a relatively uncommon and sought-after typewriter: a 1968 Facit TP2. The typeface is a wonderful, and very handsome, “Imperial Elite”.

The Facit typewriter has been called the “Prince of the Typewriters” by the great and respected Robert Messenger. He says that it is “attractive to the eye, has a nice light typing touch, yet is still very workmanlike”. I cannot improve on his description. This typewriter has a “basket-shift” making it very easy on the fingers while typing. There is an innovative system for allowing the carriage to roll back and forth and this mechanism gives the Facit the lightest touch in mid-century typewriters.

This lovely typewriter is working perfectly and is available now at Acme! See links in our bio/profile.

Prior to World War 2, the Imperial Typewriter Company of England began a business partnership with Torpedo-Werke AG in Frankfurt, Germany. I find it interesting that this particular typewriter was manufactured in 1942 at the height of the war. This is a lovely example of a Good Companion typewriter from the wartime period. It is unusual in that it has a cork platen (in beautiful condition).
This typewriter came to us from a Dutch family that spent the war years in England associated with the Dutch government-in-exile which was established there when Queen Wilhelmina was forced to flee the Netherlands when the Germans invaded. The family returned to Holland after the war, carried this typewriter with them, and kept it in the family until very recently.

This lovely typewriter is working perfectly and is available now at Acme! See links in our bio/profile.
