IFFR Filmclub X Dokhuis

We zijn blij om onze samenwerking met IFFR voort te zetten, waarin we Rotterdam-gerelateerde films vertonen, ruimte maken voor betekenisvolle gesprekken en een sociaal betrokken sfeer creëren met heerlijke snacks.

Voor deze editie presenteren we twee bijzondere korte films: Op Haar Schouders van Safaa Khelifati en Regen in Augustus van Ashley Röttjers.

Verbonden door thema’s als menselijke kwetsbaarheid en verbondenheid, bieden beide films intieme portretten van mensen die hun weg zoeken in een complexe werkelijkheid, op zoek naar kracht, richting en een gevoel van thuishoren.

Beide regisseurs zijn aanwezig voor een Q&A een mooie gelegenheid voor gesprek en reflectie.

Kom langs voor een avond vol film en verbinding.

We’re excited to continue our collaboration with IFFR to showcase Rotterdam-related films, spark meaningful conversations, and create a socially engaged atmosphere, while enjoying delicious snacks.

For this edition, we present two remarkable short films: Op Haar Schouders by Safaa Khelifati and Regen in Augustus by Ashley Röttjers.

United by themes of human fragility and connection, both films offer intimate portraits of individuals navigating complex realities, searching for strength, direction, and belonging.

Pull up a chair, grab a bowl of soup, and let’s talk. For this night, we’re exploring the question: How do you interact with your living environment?

Femke is bringing the soup, and the question. Will you join us to share your thoughts and ideas? The conversation will be held in English. Everyone is welcome!

Soup-port is support with soup! In our cozy dokhuis, on the edge of the harbor, we come together for Soup-port. This is your chance to connect with familiar and new neighbors over a warm bowl of soup. Each session, led by Parel Strik and Noemi Bardas, centers on personal questions and topics.

The aim of Soup-port is not to come to conclusions, but to share perspectives and discover what you and others have to say. We focus on open-hearted conversations and exchanging ideas, not on finding ready-made solutions.

Ben je tussen de 16 en 27 jaar en wil je je creativiteit verder ontwikkelen? Kom langs bij de Makers Sessies van PlusWhat in Dokhuis!

Tijdens deze eerste sessie neemt Latoyah je mee in haar werk als fotograaf. Je leert de basis van fotografie in verschillende settings, ontdekt hoe je een verhaal kunt vertellen met beeld, en gaat natuurlijk zelf aan de slag.

De Makers Sessies zijn dé plek om andere jonge makers te ontmoeten, nieuwe skills te leren en te ontdekken wat bij jou past binnen de creatieve industrie. Onder begeleiding van Rotterdamse professionals werk je stap voor stap aan je eigen ontwikkeling.

✨ Na vijf sessies werken we samen toe naar een expositie van jullie werk in Dokhuis.

We beginnen de week weer samen bij Dokhuis. We borduren samen, gaan in gesprek over de stad, doen artistiek onderzoek naar belonging, zingen met Talent aan de Maas en sluiten de week af met een inspiratiedag en filmavond.
Zoals altijd is er ruimte om mee te doen, te ontmoeten of gewoon even binnen te lopen.

Afgelopen zondag stond volledig in het teken van community 💫

Als onderdeel van de 55e editie van IFFR en het initiatief van de maandelijkse Filmclub bij Dokhuis kwamen we samen voor een bijzondere middag met korte films, gedeelde verhalen en betekenisvolle gesprekken. Het gezamenlijke programma van Dokhuis en IFFR Filmclub maakte van de vertoning een gedeeld moment van reflectie, dialoog en ontmoeting. Het evenement creëerde een gastvrije ruimte voor verbinding en saamhorigheid, zowel op als buiten het scherm.
Dank aan iedereen die erbij was, keek, bleef, praatte en de ruimte tot leven bracht. Dit zijn de momenten die ons eraan herinneren dat cinema niet alleen iets is wat we zien; het is iets wat we samen beleven.

As part of the 55th edition of IFFR and its initiative of the monthly Filmclub at Dokhuis, we gathered for a special afternoon of short films, shared stories, and meaningful conversations. The joint programme by Dokhuis and IFFR Filmclub turned the screening into a shared moment of reflection, dialogue, and encounters. The event created a welcoming space for connection and belonging both on and off screen.
Thank you to everyone who joined, watched, stayed, talked, and made the space feel alive. These are the moments that remind us cinema is not just something we see; it’s something we experience together.

A modern classic that fully deserves its hype. It’s a film that asks for a second watch if you’ve seen it before, and one that, despite its reputation, may have been sitting on your watchlist for a long time. Take this as a sign to finally see it.

What begins as the story of a couple separating slowly unfolds into a tightly woven portrait of multiple lives, perspectives, and moral positions. Farhadi builds his film through characters rather than arguments, letting small gestures, misunderstandings, and everyday decisions reveal deep ethical tensions. The film refuses clear answers and leaves us to sit with its complexity long after it ends.

After the screening, we’ll stay for a drink and a bowl of soup, and take some time to talk together.

[EN] A night of diversity during our Minority Rights session.
Through body-based exercises, shared readings, and open conversations, we reflected on lived experiences of dis-privilege, memory, and pain. Together, we experienced moments of solidarity where people held space for one another and safety was built collectively.
We took time for digestion and reflection through writing and sharing. Small moments that helped create connection and build bridges within a diverse group.

Thank you Golnar Abbasi and Saina Salarian for your gentle, attentive, and flowing facilitation. We are grateful for the care you brought into the room.

[NL] Een avond vol diversiteit tijdens onze sessie over Minderhedenrechten.
Door lichaamsgerichte oefeningen, gezamenlijke lezingen en open gesprekken deelden we onze geleefde ervaringen van uitsluiting, herinneringen en pijn. Tegelijkertijd ontstond er een gevoel van gemeenschap waarin mensen ruimte voor elkaar hielden en veiligheid samen werd opgebouwd.

We namen tijd voor verstilling en reflectie door te schrijven en te delen. Kleine momenten die hielpen om verbinding te maken en bruggen te slaan binnen een diverse groep.

Dank aan Golnar Abbasi en Saina Salarian voor hun zachte, aandachtige en vloeiende begeleiding. We zijn dankbaar voor de zorg en rust die zij in de ruimte brachten.
