My art is going to be in a book!

I am going to work with and who wrote an amazing fantasy story that they are turning into a book.

It's going to be the second of their FAN series. The first one will be for sale soon.

This month is filled with drawing, carving and printing for this project and I love it!

There is something I really like about not getting to choose.

We are so used to seeing everything before we buy it, comparing, scrolling and deciding exactly what we want. I love the idea of occasionally doing the opposite and letting someone else surprise you.

That's what I wanted Raven Call Mail Club to be: a little piece of art in your mailbox that you didn't choose, but might end up really loving.

The first one goes out on monday and you can join until tomorrow, September 4.

One year already!

I know it's a slightly strange way to sell something: asking people to join a monthly club without showing them exactly what they're going to get.

But that's exactly what I love about being a member of artists' mail clubs myself. The surprise of finding an envelope in our mailbox, opening it and discovering something that someone has made especially for that month.

That's what Raven Call Mail Club is about. Every month I'll create a new lino print exclusively for the members, together with a letter from the studio and a recipe I think is worth trying. You won't know what the print looks like until it arrives in your mailbox.

It might be weird. It might be beautiful. Hopefully both.

And while you're treating yourself to some genuinely good post, you're also supporting an independent artist and giving me the opportunity to keep making new things.

I think that's a pretty good deal.

Look at them sitting on top of our barn.

Swallows. A couple of dozen of them.

Flying around with so much agility. Chasing little insects and each other. Chatting away.

Flying in and out the studio when I leave the door open.

So for this months Mail Club I took them as inspiration for the members only lino print.
