Antoniem In 2019 Ton Voortman starts experimenting with elementary shapes under the name Antoniem. He works alternately in his studios in The Netherlands and France.

Antoniem was born in 1948 as Ton Voortman in Rotterdam, where he graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts. After a career as an independent graphic designer and illustrator, he fully focused on sculpting in 2005. The woman, her clothes and their symbiosis have a crucial place in his work. He exhibits regularly and his sculptures are included in various corporate and private collections, both nati

onally and internationally. In 2019 he starts experimenting with elementary shapes under the name Antoniem. The result is unique sculptures and installations, executed in various materials.

A cream puff, or some other type of pastry, where the filling oozes out everywhere as soon as you bite into it. Or a toasted sandwich where melted cheese drips onto your clean shirt. The idea for this object arose from that phenomenon.
Sandwich #07 displays a dynamic contrast between the sleek wooden blocks and the creamy resin.

The concept for this object had been in my studio for a while, and I finally finished it this week. I don't know yet whether it will be a unique piece or a series.
