Pink Istanbul is an Art & Dance event linking the scenes of Istanbul and Amsterdam, for Turks and non Turks, gays, lesbians, and their straight friends, to celebrate music, art and dance here in Amsterdam and in Istanbul! With DJ's from Amsterdam and Istanbul (pop, house, electro, techno, turkish and ethnic pop music), dance performances, Live bands and Audio-Visual Art. With al lot of uncomfortab

le clichés, ultra vague sounds and lots of weird stuff from Holland and from beyond the Bosphorus. Pink Istanbul started with this concept in 2008 within Paradiso Amsterdam and grew out to be an important 'bridge' between the social activist and artistic gay scenes of The Netherlands and Turkey giving a stage to LGBT artists in both countries but also through the organisation of more up to date informative debates, film screenings, panel discussions with and between LGBT activists in both countries. Thus providing a stage for activism with and within the cultural scene! in 2012 Pink Istanbul was also one of the organisers of both The Turkish Boat itself as well as the documentary "De Turkse Boot" (The Turkish Boat) a movie by Chris Belloni on the first Turkish Gay Pride Boat at the Amsterdam Canal Pride 2012!

The last two acts that will be making our line-up complete for tomorrow evening are Dj Ipek // Ipek Ipekcioglu and Cake Mosq.

Based between Berlin and Istanbul, q***r-living DJ, producer and curator, DJ İpek İpekçioğlu has an established reputation across nightlife scenes worldwide. She has performed her music at the Glastonburry, Fusion, Sziget, At.tension, Berlin Festival and many more international electronic and world music festivals. Ipek is regarded as one of the most popular DJ's of the Berlin club scene and is internationally known as Queen of Eklektik BerlinIstan. In her musical spectrum, psychedelic turkish funk meets disco, balkanfolk to minimal, Anatolian folk to deep house, kurdish halay to electro, turkish tango to break beat, bhangra to moombahton, dabke to reaggaton, albanian folk to twerk, iranian bandari to techno.

CakeMosq is the iconic drag queen of Istanbul nightlife. Famous for their programme What's Going On Around Here Bi'Bilsen on YouTube in which the performer turns different celebrities into drag queens and talks about unspoken topics with unfiltered guests about make-up, art, dance, music, fashion and life. The first Cake Mosq single "Alterego", came out in 2020 and references to 80s disco.

Jilet Sebahat has fought for q***r rights since the early 2000s and plays an active role in the q***r nightlife and q***r art scene in Istanbul. Jilet loves playing songs that open your mind, as well as serving your heart. Her dj sets range from the 1920's rebetiko to today's electronic and house music.

Op 15 mei komt Queens of Beirut uit, een boek vol foto's en persoonlijke verhalen uit de drag gemeenschap in Beirut. Beirut is een van de drie hoofdsteden waar Shugar zich enorm door laat inspireren. Athene, İstanbul en Beirut zijn wat Shugar betreft de q***r capitals die historische banden hebben met het Constantinopel van weleer. Na jaren van economische en sociaal-maatschappelijke problematieken en een verwoestende explosie, zijn we ontzettend blij dat Shugar’s focus weer op een van de leidende Arabische q***r steden van de Levant ligt en dat we ons weer mogen en kunnen vestigen in Beirut.
