Guateque (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
The name ‘Guateque’ originates from very popular house parties among young people in the 50s/60s and was formed to the rhythm of son, pachanga and boogaloo. Guateque; founded in 2010 in Amsterdam with Guateque ladies in 2015 still represents this strong young family party spirit, sharing the love for Salsa. But moreover they represent a movement against all forms of inequality and oppression. This started in particular with the show ‘Valiente’ that shows that women are more than submissive, sexy and silent in a male dominated (Salsa) world. Guateque is about making voices heard and reclaiming the freedom of creative expression.

I want to share with you my favorite GUA moment 😊
For almost 10 years i have mostly great memories with Guateque
But my most inspirational and motivational moment was and still is right now 🥰
SWIPE RIGHT FOR PICS 》》》》

My best GUA experience is this year when i was feeling that i need a break from all of it...the classes, trainings, performances...
This group of amazing human beings was training at all time, at any place meeting with eachother, helping eachother, learning almost an entire show via my home made videos 😁
I had no choice but feel super motivated and intoxicated with their energy. I felt once again inlove with what i do and that pushed me to do and accomplish so much more than i thought i can...

I have only love for you my GUAmily 🥰💕💕💕💕💕💕

Im the founder and choreographer of Guateque Ladies Team
Im born in Bulgaria and stated my salsa journey there in 2004 😊
In the year 2011 i moved to The Nederland and continued my passion here. I try to learn constantly and create more of what i love with my routines.

Guateque Ladies Team is something very special for me. This is not only a Ladies dance group but a community of strong women who help eachother grow and not just with their dancing skills 😉 The choreographies i create have a story and a message and that is how life goes through women's perspective, how we see, feel and experience life...

Girls show from Guateque dance company

It was not easy to start over and rebuild something that was slowly fading ...
This show and my team belived that i can do it and suported me with every decision i make (not all great ones hahah )
The guys in the group surprisingly followed my crazy turnpatterns and worked out tricks with me ( i love tricks :) )

The result: a great group of friends supporting eachother
3 groups grow in the company all led by a woman!
I cant be more happy and proud

And yes sometimes we keep busy and dont get the time to congratulate ourself for what we acomplish... this is the time that i can look back and see how far this company has come in the past 2 years when i took over.

Thank you GUAfamily for letting me be myself, i will keep moving forward and try to be a better leader and dancer for us.
