Last spring and summer, I experimented with plant roots. While I enjoyed the process, it often felt like diving into an abyss of what I’d consider failures—pieces that just didn’t quite work.

From Anatomy of an Experiment: QC fail series, I’ve pulled a few results. Though technically failures, these pieces passed my personal QC test for aesthetics, shape, and form.

Accidents can lead to unexpected beauty. A dear friend accidentally broke the vase that held this little String of Pearls plant—a baby boot-shaped home it had grown into. But out of this mishap, something beautiful emerged. Seeing the plant with its roots exposed, still clinging to the shape of its former home, reminds us that even in moments of disruption, there’s an opportunity to see things differently. A fresh perspective, a new lease on life—sometimes, that’s all we need to bloom again. 🌱
