Over the eleven years of building this project, we’ve had the privilege of forming friendships and partnerships with many wonderful people. Among them, we are grateful for the support of the Australian Office in Taipei and their efforts in helping connect our two countries🌊

🎉大大恭喜 Small Island Big Song 小島大歌 澳台共創團隊榮獲澳洲政府資助的藝文機構「創意澳洲 Creative Australia」所頒發的2026年「亞太藝術獎」中的影響力獎！這又是一個成功的澳台文化交流共創計劃，其他獲提名的澳台共製專案還包括「Gapu Nupan 追尋彩虹」及「實體未來 Physical Future」。

So humbled and grateful to share that Small Island Big Song has won the Impact Award at the 2026 Asia Pacific Arts Awards, what an extraordinary night. Huge thanks to Creative Australia for the recognition. The following day, on our way to the airport, we received a congratulatory call from Minister Tony Burke, Australia’s Minister for the Arts. Beyond expressing our appreciation for bringing together so many arts partners from across the Asia-Pacific through this award, we also took the opportunity to highlight that this is an Australia-Taiwan collaboration.

We are also thankful to Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture and the National Culture and Arts Foundation for their continued support, enabling this to be a truly international co-production.

Eleven years ago, we began this project with very few resources and a dream: to collaborate with islander voices across Asia-Pacific and the Indian Ocean. Years later, we have grown from a couple into a family spanning 17 nationalities… now plus one. We believe the more diversity there is, the stronger the collaboration becomes, while always keeping a shared common centre.

Deepest thanks to all the collaborators, artists, and creatives who have walked this journey with us, this recognition belongs to everyone.

我們非常感恩地跟大家分享，小島大歌 榮獲 2026 亞太藝術獎（Asia Pacific Arts Awards）的Impact 影響力獎，這是一個無比難忘的夜晚。誠摯感謝Creative Australia （澳洲文化部）的肯定，頒獎典禮隔天前往機場的途中，我們接到來自澳洲文化部長Tony Burke的恭賀電話，我們除了謝謝他和團隊匯聚了這麼多來自亞太的藝文夥伴們，同時也提到，我們是一個台灣、澳洲的合作～

謝謝台灣 文化部 以及 國藝會 的持續支持，讓這個計劃不論是藝術創作、或是資源共享上，展現真正跨國合製的高度。

十一年前，我們帶著非常有限的資源，和一個很單純的夢想出發：希望能與橫跨太平洋與印度洋的島嶼聲音一起創作、搭建橋樑。一路走來，我們從兩個人，慢慢長成一個橫跨 17 個國籍的創作大家庭…… 現在，又多了一位新的小小成員🙃 我們一直相信，社群越多元，合作就會越有力量，只要我們能夠持續守住我們共同的核心

最深的感謝，送給一路並肩前行的所有合作夥伴、藝術家與創意工作者，這個獎屬於我們每一個人～

Honoured to share that Small Island Big Song has been nominated in the Impact category at the 2026 Asia Pacific Arts Awards, presented by Creative Australia

For over a decade, this journey has built a community of inspiring people. At its heart, it has always been about cultural exchange and amplifying voices across the oceans.

We’ve travelled to Perth for tonight’s awards ceremony and have already had the joy of meeting and sharing food with fellow nominees whose work is creating meaningful change across our region.

Grateful to be in such inspiring company.

“One Ocean is a perfectly choreographed performance with music, dance, and video that relies on pace and vibrancy. The dance was also spectacular, including that of the Afro-Mauritian dancer and percussionist Mathieu Joseph. Another spectacular contribution came from the percussionists. Fabulous how one rhythm was layered over another—triplets, quintuplets, or the other way around—duplets and quarter notes.”
