Jonathan, Diri, Oborevwori, Otuaro, others pay tribute as Pa Clark is buried in hometown
The town of Kiagbodo in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, the ancestral home of the late Pa Edwin Clark, witnessed a significant influx of dignitaries as the funeral rites of the elder statesman were held in his honour.
The solemn funeral service and civic burial reception held at the St. Paul's Anglican Church and the Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo on Tuesday, drew prominent personalities from across the country, including the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, accompanied by his wife, Dame Patience; Chief Dennis Otuaro, Administrator Presidential Amnesty Programme, Senator (Dr) Godswill Akpabio, President of Nigerian Senate, and Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, Senator Representing Delta South senatorial district.
Other attendees were said to include serving and former governors, traditional rulers, political figures, and respected community leaders.
The mourners gathered to pay tribute to the late nationalist who was known for his unyielding commitment to the Niger Delta and the unity of Nigeria.
Pa Edwin Clark passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 97.
