We would like to thank you all for joining us for our sip and paint session today. We had a wonderful time with you, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We were amazed by your creativity and talent, and we loved seeing your beautiful paintings. You can check out the photos of your artwork on our page, and feel free to tag yourselves and your friends.

Introducing Yobe Light Fest: Nurul Eid
Yobe Literary Society is proud to partner Fa’iza Event Center, Northern Times, Yobe Exclusive Entertainment and Arewa Blood to bring you the first light festival in the northeast.

Step into a mesmerizing world of light and enchantment as Yobe transforms into a dazzling realm of artistic illuminations. The festival invites visitors on Nurul Eid where they can explore captivating light installations, immersive displays, and breathtaking visual spectacles. Each carefully curated installation showcases the interplay of light, color, and imagination, taking attendees on an unforgettable adventure through various themed zones.

The festival concept emphasizes the fusion of art, technology, and creativity to create a multisensory experience. Visitors can stroll through illuminated pathways adorned with vibrant light sculptures, discover interactive installations that respond to touch and movement, and witness awe-inspiring light shows that dance across the night sky.

The Yobe Peace and Arts Festival Organizing Committee regretfully announces that the Yobe Peace and Arts Festival, previously scheduled from 11th to 13th May 2023, has been postponed once again, this time on the behest of the Yobe State Government.

We understand that this news may be disappointing to many, but we assure you that we are committed to rescheduling the festival as soon as it is safe to do so. We appreciate your continued support and understanding during this challenging time.

Namse is an Educator and literacy development expert. He organized the first Walk for Literacy in Northern Nigeria and started Tanar Kaduna Bookathon to make books available to children in underserved communities. He is the author of Amang Goes to the Village and Fundamental Etiquette for Young Nigerians. He mentors teenage writers at the Yasmin Elrufai Foundation YMI program. Dr Mohammed Goje is a public health/Emergency specialist with over 10 years of experience as in GBV, Humanitarian disaster response in conflict situation in Southeast Asia and Nigeria. He is currently the Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria.
He holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has vast experience and expertise in Emergency Management, capacity building ion GBV, PSS and CMR in conflict settings, Vaccines/Immunization, and program management.
As GBV specialist Dr Goje has contributed to the development of an overall strategy to combat the Sexual Gender Based Violence with the expected output Improving knowledge and awareness of communities on SRH and SGBV prevention and response services that are gender-responsive and meet human rights standards for quality of care and equity in access as well as experience in Building capacity of health workers and care givers on Sexual Gender Base Violence (SGBV) interventions, Psychosocial Support (PSS) in humanitarian settings.
His work experience includes serving as Consultant/Program Coordinator for the UNFPA Funded project ‘‘Strengthening Sexual and Reproductive Health service provision in conflict-affected communities in North-Eastern Nigeria and later as Vaccine’s analyst- Strengthening Immunization Health System for the Clinton Health Access Initiative.
He has attended several courses, workshops, and trainings amongst which are GBV and PSS master trainings by UNFPA in 2019, Coventry University Emergency Planning and Preparedness course in December 2021, Tackling the Novel Coronavirus course in April 2019, and the Disaster management course by Deakin University, Australia in March 2017.
Dr Goje Mohammed had published several peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals.

Abdullahi Bego is a journalist and public affairs analyst who's worked as Daily Trust editor before joining the services of the Yobe State Government in 2007.

He was Director of Press Affairs to the Late Governor Mamman B. Ali. In 2009 following the death of Mamman B. Ali, Governor Gaidam retained him as his spokesperson and, in 2011, following the elections of that year, elevated him to the position of Special Adviser on Press Affairs.

In 2015, Bego became Director General for Press Affairs following Governor Gaidam's election to a second and final term in office. In 2019, Bego continued as Director General for Press Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni for ten months before he was appointed as Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture.

In October 2021, Governor Buni created the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation and made Bego the pioneer commissioner in that ministry.

As reporter and editor, Bego has written extensively about social, political, economic and security issues during his active journalism days and has contributed significantly to political and academic discourse on life in the Lake Chad Basin area, including on impacts of the shrinkage of the Lake Chad on the over 20 million people who depended on the Lake for their livelihoods.

Adamu Usman Garko is a long-time contributor and the Director of African Operations at Applied Worldwide, a US based content production company. He is a development strategist, an essayist and poet. His book When Day Breaks, a collection of poetry, was listed among the 15 Best Published Books in 2018 by DailyTrust Newspaper; also, the book was a recommended text for 400l English students of Gombe State University in 2018. Garko was recently awarded by the Global Youth Mobilisation, a project initiated and funded by the World Health Organization and United Nations Foundation to support young change makers around the world to address local issues and support local and marginalized communities to build back better. He is also an experienced contributor and volunteer with Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the largest repository of knowledge, where he coordinates programs and activities in Nigeria to bridge information gaps. He is also the 2020 winner of the Nigeria Prize for Teen Authors and the convener of Jewel Writing Workshop, an annual event that seeks to equip young and talented individuals with mentorship opportunities in the field of writing and provide solid connections between young writers and diverse mentors who are willing to share their experiences and views.

Dr Zarah is a veterinarian by profession. She is the founder and Executive Director of the Portrait of Lake Child Initiative – an NGO Concerned with issues affecting children living across the Lake Chad Region of Africa (Issues surrounding Girl Child Education, Gender Based Violence, Climate Change, and Maternal and Child care).
She is the Head of Humanitarian and Emergency Response at the Network of Yobe Civil Society Organizations. She also serves as the Secretary General of Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association; Deputy Coordinator of the Female Veterinarians of Nigeria; Vice President FGC Buni Yadi Alumni Association; State Coordinator NIWARD Yobe State Chapter; and Secretary General PAWISCA.
Her priority is the girl child and has a personal vision to see a society that is free from any form of violence against women and girls.
