Who is your plug?
You see a solar package online or a technician recommends a good size without properly assessing your home. It sounds affordable, it sounds sufficient, so you go ahead. A few weeks in, reality hits. Your laptop, TV, fans, and a few bulbs are draining the system faster than expected.
By evening, you're back to the same darkness you were trying to escape, except now you've spent money and still don't have reliable power.
Or worse, the opposite happens. You overspend on a massive system your home didn't actually need, paying for capacity you'll never fully use, money that could have gone into something else entirely.
This happens because solar isn't one-size-fits-all. Your power needs depend on what you actually run daily, how many appliances, how long they run, and which ones matter most when the sun isn't shining. Skip that assessment, and you're essentially guessing with your money.
The result? Batteries that die too fast, panels that can't keep up, frustration, and in many cases, spending even more later just to "upgrade" a system that should have been sized correctly from day one.
Before you install solar, get your home's power needs properly assessed by a professional. Know exactly what you use, what you need backed up, and what size system actually fits your home, not just your budget.
