EPISODE 2: FABRIC HAS A VOICE �

Hello my loves, welcome to Episode 2 of Fabric Talk with 9iceUp Wears! �

Today we go talk about something many designers ignore — FABRIC BEHAVIOUR.

See ehn, not every fabric can do what you want:

1. STRUCTURED FABRICS like Ankara, Mikado, Taffeta — they stand on their own. Perfect for puff sleeves, peplum, big gowns. They don't need plenty support.

2. SOFT/DRAPY FABRICS like Crepe, Chiffon, Silk — they flow like water. Perfect for bias gowns, free dresses, that sexy drape look. But you cannot force them to be stiff!

3. STRETCH FABRICS like Lycra, Scuba, Knit — they stretch and return. Perfect for bodycon, but if you cut am wrong, e go shift for you!

My golden rule: Before you cut any fabric, ASK IT — "What can you do well?"

When you respect the fabric, your finishing go always be 10/10!

Let me drop this knowledge here 🤗, with love for my Fashion Designers and Fashion Lovers ❤️❤️

Why did I mention Fashion Lovers too and not only designers? I know you are asking by now, right? Hold on, let me break it down.

It's so clients will stop blaming their designers/tailors for errors or styles that didn't come out perfect. Most times when you get a different thing from what you expected, it is as a result of the FABRIC you gave to your tailor, not necessarily their fault.

You can't see a style made with SCUBA fabric and give your tailor CREPE fabric to recreate it and expect the same result. It's not done! That's why we have the whole "WHAT I ORDERED VS WHAT I GOT" — na your fabric cause am o, not your innocent seamstress.

So my advice: As a client, show your designer what you want to sew and let them tell you the BEST fabric to use.

Different fabrics behave differently.
Some are structured.
Some are soft.
Some drape beautifully.
Some have stretch.
Some fray easily.
That means the same pattern may behave differently when made in different fabrics.
Before cutting, understand what your fabric can and cannot do.
