The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert following reports that Chad has banned Bledine Infant Cereals produced by the Danone Group over contamination concerns.

The agency said the affected products are already circulating in Nigeria, particularly in border communities neighboring Chad.

According to the report received by NAFDAC, Chadian authorities imposed the ban because the cereals failed to meet European safety standards for Aflatoxin B1, a carcinogenic toxin found in some agricultural products.

The agency noted that assessments have shown the affected batches are present in Nigeria, raising renewed concerns about the safety of infant food sold in local markets.

NAFDAC explained that Aflatoxin B1 is a potent carcinogen and an immunotoxin capable of causing serious immune system disorders in infants and young children.

Nigerian man st@bs his father to d3ath, !njures two sisters in US

A 27-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been taken into custody by New Orleans police following a domestic att@ck that left his father d+ad and his two sisters inj¥red on Pebble Street.

Family members confirmed to WWL Louisiana that the deceased, Samuel Eweni, was a computer science professor at Southern University at New Orleans. Relatives said that Chukwuebuka att+cked his father and sisters on the evening of November 11, 2025. One of the surviving victims has been released from the hospital, while the other remains under treatment but is expected to recover.

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) confirmed that Eweni was later located in Jefferson Parish and is now in law enforcement custody undergoing medical evaluation.

NOPD stated the incident occurred around 9:59 p.m. on November 11 in the 8000 block of Pebble Street. Officers responding to a report of “an aggravated battery by cutting, believed to be domestic in nature” found Samuel Eweni unresponsive with a fatal st+b wo¥nd and two other adult victims with stab inj¥ries.

Detectives have identified Chukwuebuka Eweni as the suspect and have obtained an arrest warrant charging him with one count of second-degree m¥rder and two counts of attempted second-degree m¥rder. Authorities describe him as armed and dangerous. Instablog9ja

NAFDAC to Enforce Full Ban on Sachet Alcohol by December 2025 |

Producers and sellers of sachet and small bottle alcoholic drinks have until December 2025 to stop. After that, NAFDAC says there will be no mercy and no extension.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced plans to fully enforce the ban on alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and bottles below 200ml. The agency’s Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, made this known during a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday.

She emphasized that the decision aims to protect public health, especially the youth who easily access these cheap, high-risk drinks. Adeyeye warned that manufacturers who fail to comply before the December 2025 deadline would face serious sanctions.

She also made it clear that no further extension will be granted, marking a final phase of the long-debated ban.

Nigerians are divided over whether the policy will truly curb alcohol abuse or worsen unemployment in the beverage industry.
