4 ESSENTIAL THINGS EVERY SINGER SHOULD DO EVERY MORNING TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY AND STRONG VOICE

Your morning routine sets the tone for your voice all day. Whether you're rehearsing, recording, or leading worship, these four simple habits will help you keep your voice healthy, clear, and ready to serve:

1. HYDRATE FIRST THING

Your vocal cords need moisture to stay flexible and function well. Before you eat or speak too much, drink a full glass of room-temperature water to kickstart hydration. Cold water can shock your cords—warm or room temp is best!

►💧 Tip: Keep sipping water throughout the day, not just in the morning.

2. DO GENTLE VOCAL WARM-UPS

Even if you’re not singing right away, a light warm-up wakes your voice gently and prevents strain. Try humming, lip trills, or gentle sirens for just 5–10 minutes.

► 🎶 Think of it like stretching before a workout—your voice needs it too!

3. Avoid Excessive Talking or Yelling

Your voice is still waking up. Try to avoid loud conversations, throat-clearing, or shouting early in the day. Let your vocal cords ease into action gradually.

► 🤫 Quiet mornings = better singing later.

4. Check Your Breathing

Take a few minutes to practice diaphragmatic (belly) breathing. It not only calms your body and mind but also sets up proper breath support for singing.

► 🌬️ Place one hand on your belly and feel it rise and fall with each breath.

✅ Bonus: If you're feeling phlegmy, avoid dairy-heavy breakfasts and do some gentle steam inhalation or drink warm herbal tea.

Your voice is your instrument—treat it with care every single morning.

Get ready for my first ever WEBINAR. Details will be dropping soon.

I hope this meets you well 🙌🏽
Ciao 🤍

The Truth About Record Deals Many Young Artists Don’t Want to Hear!!

I observe that numerous young artists are hopeful that a prominent record executive will notice them, sign them, provide them with a vehicle, book them for performances, and grant them fame. While this aspiration appears enticing and glamorous, the majority of you are unprepared for the financial implications that accompany it.

Here’s the reality: a record label is not a charitable organization. Every gift, vehicle, flight, music video, and promotional endeavor they provide has a cost, which is stipulated in fine print and compensated through ownership.

When a label invests in you, they are not merely supporting your talent; they are acquiring control. You attain fame, but they obtain your master recordings. You gain visibility, but they acquire your creative rights. You develop an image, but they own the brand. Furthermore, everything they expend on you is subject to recoupment, meaning you will reimburse them before you genuinely earn.

So, when they advance you ₦1 million, do not be deceived – it is not complimentary. That ₦1 million can easily transform into ₦50 million in returns for them through ownership of your catalog, licensing, performances, and royalties. By the time you exclaim, “They are stealing from me!” the contract has already spoken with greater authority than your voice.

This is why I consistently inform young artists of the harsh reality:

• Preserve your rights.
• Opt for a distribution deal instead.
• Establish your own team, encompassing marketing, branding, public relations, and strategy.
• Avoid requesting advances that will compromise your long-term freedom, particularly if you are unprepared for the sacrifices and restrictions inherent in a record label agreement.

Because when the excitement dissipates and the financial figures begin to emerge, the fundamental question will be: “Who owns what?”

If my music journey had been controlled by a label, they would likely be asserting, “We made you,” while holding my catalog hostage. Fortunately, I acquired knowledge early on – independence may be a slower process, but it yields enduring freedom.

This is not to imply that record labels are inherently detrimental. In reality, a recording contract can accelerate your progress, broaden your reach, and provide a more defined structure for your work.

However, this article aims to provide foundational knowledge, preparing those who frequently approach agreements with a sense of entitlement or unrealistic expectations. By understanding what is genuinely at stake, they can make informed decisions.

Ultimately, greed is the most expedient path to bo***ge. Do not permit temporary comfort to compromise your lifelong calling. 👉

READ THIS IF YOU’RE AN UPCOMING ARTIST AND YOU’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH MUSIC EXECS
By NEON ADejo – Kairos House

The music industry is shifting.
Record labels and major executives are gradually moving away from signing artists with little or no following. We’ve now entered a new A&R-driven era, one where talents are discovered based on the platforms they’ve already built for themselves.

When these executives meet, they’re not just searching for raw talent anymore.
They’re looking for momentum, for artists who’ve already proven consistency, built engagement, and are showing results on their own.

They’re checking for Spotify listeners, streaming numbers, online engagement, and visible effort behind your art.
Only in rare cases do labels take the risk of signing completely underground artists today.

That’s why it’s crucial to start building now.
Work on your engagement. Understand the business side of your music.
Get involved in every process. Know where your listeners are coming from.
Study your analytics so you can reach the right audience, not just any audience.

The desire for greatness in music is universal. Everyone wants to make it.
But the truth is, not everyone will.
That’s not a curse, it’s just the reality of life.

Some will discover new paths as they grow.
Others will evolve into different life pursuits, and that’s perfectly okay.

The music industry is like a pyramid: the top is narrow, the bottom is crowded.
If you want to stand a chance, you must be different, disciplined, and driven.
You can’t afford to be lazy, ignorant, or arrogant and still expect success.

Your knowledge of your craft and your purpose will give you leverage at the negotiation table.
Too many artists sign deals out of ignorance, dismissing the value of an entertainment lawyer or proper industry knowledge, and they pay the price later.

This isn’t to say record labels are bad, far from it.
A record deal can expand your reach, accelerate your growth, and add structure to your vision.

But this post is about foundation.
It’s for artists who approach deals with entitlement or unrealistic expectations.
It’s a reminder of what’s truly at stake.

I’m not writing this to discourage you, but to prepare you, to equip you with knowledge that many people won’t share.

Religious fanatics may fight this knowledge, but the undeniable truth is that globalization and technology are rewriting the narrative.

Take this from me as a gift of wisdom.
Your talent will open doors, but your understanding will keep them open.
