The European Commission has proposed making Canada the EU’s first associate member, creating a potential new level of cooperation between Canada and the European Union.
From trade and investment to technology, defence, energy and critical minerals, the proposed partnership could open up new opportunities on both sides.
Important: this is still a proposal, and the exact benefits and rules have not been finalised.
But one thing is clear, Canada and Europe are getting much closer.
