During the recently concluded Lagos International Theatre Festival (2025) Louise Marie Stage School brought a whole coterie of young people to see AMTA’s production ‘High Octave: Broadway Meets Broadstreet’.

The students and faculty were excitedly gushing and delighted with our performance. Many of the students were so inspired as to decide that showbusiness is the ultimate course of their career ambitions.

As an organisation, we decided to honour this tremendous show of support and the ongoing relationship we have with Louise Marie by having a few cast members pop in to the school to speak with those that attended the show.

Our visit to was met with a great deal of joy and appreciation. The students had a ball and asked surprisingly deep and insightful questions. They challenged our High Octave team and made space for vulnerable and honest sharing about careers, building a sustainable life, financial stability in the arts, what success is, and the emotional toll it can all take.

The school was exceedingly glad that we were able to come, and every AMTA member present felt the joy of sharing their knowledge and experience with eager young minds.

As an organisation, professional development is one of AMTA’s main focusses. This experience has also impressed upon us the value and impact we can bring to our community by inspiring and educating the performing artists of the future.

We’d like to thank Louise Marie Stage School for their support and for welcoming us so warmly. We’d also like to thank (list the s of participants) for representing AMTA so well.

Gbolabo Gibbs Adebakin popularly known as “Chef Gibbs” is the acting Vice President of the Association of the Music Theatre Artistes of Nigeria. With over 8 years of performing experience, he is passionate about the development of the Nigerian performing arts industry.
Chef Gibbs is an actor, singer, performer, and Executive producer of the “Bistro At the Theatre” Show currently running for 5 years. He has worked with several renowned names and brands in the theatre space as an actor and behind the scenes.
Beyond his projects, Chef Gibbs also work as a brand consultant and business development consultant. He majors in helping theatre brands and performers optimize their product and increase momentum. He has attended several theatre workshops with legendary instructors and has also trained in the Musical Society of Nigeria
(MUSON) and Society for Performing Arts Nigeria (SPAN).
Chef Gibbs is also a working Chef and sits on the board of a few hospitality projects.
With all his experience, he looks forward to developing the creative sector in Nigeria and providing a platform for Nigeria and Nigerians to be globally represented.
