Who Dash You Shame?
Make I tell you something, this life no be your mate. E go pet you today, tomorrow e go slap you like say you owe am rent. And the funny thing be say, na you go still wake up, brush teeth, face mirror like say everything dey alright. Lie. Na small small lies we dey tell ourselves so we no go scatter.
You see shame? That thing wey dem plant for your head since you small, “don’t talk too loud,” “don’t dress like that,” “what will people say?” Which people abeg? The same people wey never figure their own life out? The same ones wey dey hide their madness inside Sunday clothes?
Listen, if you wan survive this Lagos-type life, this kind life wey no dey give warning, you gats get mind. No be small mind o, mad mind. The kind wey go make you waka enter room even when your pocket dey cry. The kind wey go make you laugh when life try to disgrace you publicly. Because if you no laugh, you go run mad.
I don see big men wey small pass rat. I don see broke boys wey get dignity pass billionaires. So tell me, who really dey okay?
Dem go tell you respect yourself. Good talk. But sometimes, respect yourself mean breaking every rule wey no favor your soul. Wear the cloth wey dem say too loud. Talk the truth wey dey scratch people ear. Love who you wan love even if e confuse the whole village. Because at the end of the day, na only you go sit down with your choices when everywhere don quiet.
And make I yarn you final thing, nobody get am figured out. That uncle wey you dey admire, e dey hide something. That aunty wey dey quote scripture like say na WhatsApp status, e get chapter wey she no go ever read out loud. Even me wey dey talk so, I still dey find road.
But I choose one thing, I no go live my life based on fear of people wey go forget my name once I commot for their front. So I go ask you, who dash you shame? And why you never return am?
