Recently, the country celebrated its independence and many Nigerians were disenchanted with the way the government is running its affairs. For some, Nigeria is a "Dead state" because no policy in the country has ever has its root deep enough to last the storm of incessant abuse and corrupt practices and method in which it was formulated.
Following this, BLACK IMAGE in its crusade to evangelize the possibility of a better Nigeria that is united and free from ethnocentric bigotry and religious fanaticism would be staging a play titled "ABIKU" which means predestined to death. The play is a satirical representation that is symbolical to the Nigeria situation.
Informed and motivated by Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka, the play tells the story of a young belle Molomo who is being ridiculed by her peers and the villagers and also tormented by a marine husband. The play is about the saga of ABIKU or "Ogbanje", it is about pain and love, frustration and hope, it is about breaking away from a consistently vicious circle.
Hence, is Nigeria in a state of ABIKU? If yes, can we ever breakaway from this chain of predestined death that potent a bad omen? This is what Black Image Theatre Company would on Sunday the 20th of October, 2013 be performing. The play will feature Nollywood sensation - Doris Simeon, and some busy executives like Mr. Jide Wilkey, Margaret Essien, Comfort Daniels and members of Black Image Theatre Company. The event is billed to hold at F&G Suite No 7, Akin Adesanya Street off Town Planning Way Ilupeju.
The event promises to be very exciting as comedians, musicians and celebrities will be identifying with this project of Better Nigeria.
