"Just when I thought I had seen it all as a lady in her mid-twenties already. So I was on my own. You know these guys that come to you saying, "Let's go out, let's hang out," and all that.
I had been talking to this guy for probably a month, and he was like, "I want us to hang out." I said, "Fine. I work, I'll let you know when I'm free." He said, "No problem."
When he asked where I'd like us to go, I mentioned a nice restaurant that was cool and aesthetically pleasing. I didn't even ask him to pay for my clothes, hair, appearance or anything. Mind you, I was going to settle all of that myself. The only thing I expected was for him to book my ride.
Then this guy said, "Okay, no problem. How do you feel about a Dutch date?"
If you don't know what a Dutch date is, let me explain. A Dutch date is when you go out with a man, and both of you split the bill. Whatever the lady eats or drinks, she pays for it. Whatever the guy eats or drinks, he pays for it.
If I wanted to go out, have fun and spend my own money, obviously I wouldn't go with a random man I've never met before. You want to take me out, then I still have to sort my own bills? I don't understand.
I was on my own. Emphasis on I was on my own. You insisted on taking me out, then all of a sudden you're introducing Dutch dates. Because of what? Can someone explain to me how men are now comfortable opening their mouths to ask for Dutch dates? Is that the new trend now?
My happiness was that he asked before the actual day. Because if not, una for don see me trend online say man carry me comot, no come pay bill.
So I will now pay for the food I eat, while you sort yours? What exactly are you going to tell me that will convince me to even be with you if you cannot sort the bill on a first date?
I don sha bl0ck am and delete him number. But honestly, I'm just happy he didn't wait until the date before asking me what I thought about a Dutch date. Imagine me carrying my phone to browse what it means, only to discover it's a date where I pay for my own bill and he pays for his.
I give God the glory...."
