“I Married My Boss… And Lost Everything”

When I got the job at a big firm in Lagos in 1998, I thought God had finally answered my prayers. I was 23, fresh out of school, and my boss — Chief A — was everything society told us to admire. Wealthy. Influential. Married.

At first, it was innocent. Late meetings. “You’re different from other girls.” Gifts. Money for my mother’s hospital bills.

I told myself: He loves me.

When he said he would leave his wife, I believed him. When he rented me an apartment in Surulere, I moved in quietly. When I became pregnant, he panicked.

Suddenly:
• Calls reduced.
• Visits stopped.
• The “promotion” disappeared.
• His wife found out.

I lost the job. He denied the child publicly.

Today, I raise my son alone.

💬 Lesson: If he cheats with you, he may cheat on you.

The most dangerous place to be is stuck in the middle—half-in, half-out. 🛑

This powerful image and proverb illustrate a crucial truth: Hesitation mid-leap doesn't keep you safe; it ensures the fall.

💡 The Lesson: Fear has a place when you are weighing your options, but it has no business driving once you've started the engine. Doubt is the enemy of ex*****on.

🚀 The Advice: Stop straddling the fence of your own potential. Either stay on the ledge, or jump with your whole heart. Once you make the decision to move, you must leave the fear behind and commit fully to the outcome.
Be bold. Be decisive. Don't look back.

It takes no effort to match energy—to meet anger with anger, or fire with fire. 🔥 But as this ancient wisdom reminds us, that path only leads to a bigger blaze.

The real power move? Coolness. 💧
True strength isn't in how loudly you react, but in how calmly you respond. To solve a problem, you must operate on a higher frequency than the one that created it.

✨ The Lesson: Don't become the thing you are fighting.
💡 The Advice: When the heat rises, be the water. De-escalate, breathe, and break the cycle.
👇 How do you stay cool when things get heated?

Rise with Hope 🌅✨
Just as the sun refuses to let the darkness win each morning, we must refuse to let pessimism rule our mindset.

The Lesson: Hope isn't naive; it's courageous. It is the vital anchor that keeps you steady when the winds of life try to blow you off course. It is the one investment that always yields a return in resilience.

The Advice: Don’t just wait for things to get better—actively choose optimism right now. Protect your hope fiercely, for it is the fuel required to reach the horizon you’re dreaming of.
Keep looking up. Keep moving forward.

Focus on the Road, Not the Noise 🌍✨

The journey to your dreams is long, and the distractions are many. We often lose momentum trying to prove ourselves to people who are committed to misunderstanding us.

But remember: The "barking dogs"—the critics, the doubters, the daily noise—are just part of the scenery. They are not the destination.

💡 The Moral Lesson:
Your energy is a limited resource. Every moment you spend engaging with trivial opposition is a moment stolen from your progress. You cannot control who criticizes you, but you can control whether you stop to listen.

🚀 The Advice:
Keep your eyes on the horizon and your feet moving forward. Silence the noise by amplifying your results. When they bark, you work. When they doubt, you deliver.
Don't let the noise delay your arrival. 🚶🏾‍♂️💪🏾

In a world constantly screaming "hustle harder" and "you can do anything," this ancient Yoruba wisdom offers a grounding reality check. 🐐✨
The goat may jump with tremendous spirit, but the clouds will always be out of reach.
💡 The Moral Lesson:
True strength isn't just knowing what you can do; it's having the humility to accept what you cannot. There is a fine line between ambition and delusion. Ignoring your natural limitations doesn't make you brave; it just makes you exhausted.

🌿 The Advice:
Stop wasting precious energy chasing impossible goals that aren't meant for you. Acknowledging your boundaries is actually liberating—it frees you to master the things that are within your grasp.
Don't try to be the clouds. Be the best version of yourself right here on the ground. That is enough.

The driest soil often produces the most resilient life. 🌱

We are conditioned to fear hardship, yet this timeless African wisdom offers a profound shift in perspective: "Every misfortune is a blessing."
This isn't just comforting imagery; it's a deep moral lesson. The cracked earth in your life—the setbacks, the failures, the "droughts"—are not just endings. They are often the necessary breaking open required for a stronger, wiser version of yourself to emerge.

💡 The Advice:
When faced with a challenge, resist the urge to only see the misfortune. Stop staring at the cracks and start looking for the seed.

Ask yourself: What is this teaching me? Where is the hidden opportunity buried in this difficulty?
Nurture that lesson. Your greatest growth doesn't happen when things are easy; it happens when you decide to bloom right in the middle of the struggle. 💪🏿✨
