Now a days more disposable materials are leading to extreme waste globally, which in turn is hurting both us and the planet it can be overwhelming sometimes, and if you are a fellow like me who gets overwhelmed with the amount of waste you see everyday including the ones created in your house. Then I am here to show you another way to help reduce waste and that is ๐”๐๐‚๐˜๐‚๐‹๐ˆ๐๐†.

Upcycling mean turning waste materials into new items of higher quality or value from an existing item.ย This is a type of recycling but homemade,
upcycling is a way to ๐ซ๐ž๐๐ฎ๐œ๐ž and slow down the amount of waste that is been thrown away because it allows you to ๐ซ๐ž๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž things that would have been discarded and sent to landfills and also it ๐ซ๐ž๐๐ฎ๐œ๐ž the impact on our enviroment and waste systems in your own little way.

There are simple and more difficult ways to upcycle but recreating new things from an old materials can be done with ease when using a bit of creativity and it can also be fun!
Upcycling may be a good solution as it comes with it's benefits;

So if you have that one item that you can ๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ž into something new then give it a chance and upcycle it, ๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ฒ๐œ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  should be your last option.

My personal favorite from our last collection from last year is the happy baby bloomer set.
Let me show you what this set can do

from the bloomer pant to the apron top both are handmade with breathable fabric to encourage ventilation which is very much needed in this our hot weather๐Ÿฅต (you you know how babies get cranky when it gets hot.

The pant can go with any other top and also work as a diaper cover when she's wearing a gown.

Not only can your little girl wear it as a set, she can also pair it with other clothings that she has.

The Apron top is open at the back (with adjustable ropes) to allow breeze into the body leaving your little one feeling fresh and comfy wether she's indoor or outdoor๐Ÿ’™

About me~

It's a new year and I thought I introduce myself here, since I haven't done that before.
I don't know how to do these; should I get serious, funny, tell you my history, how old I am๐Ÿ˜.... to many things to talk about, I hope I don't write an epistle, ok๐Ÿ™‚

ยฐMy name is Nazareth a.k.a
Aunty Tailor!! I'm a Igbo Nigerian, living in Lagos Nigeria. I'm a self taught artist, part time fashion illustrator and fashion designer.

ยฐI remember, as a kid I was always drawing lions and any thing I could till one day I came across the super model Kate Moss from a thrift vouge magazine I had bought and since then, fashion art has been part of me.... but then fashion work was not in sight.

ยฐAlthough I was learning how to sew for the sake of it or was it because daddy's old sewing machine was enticing ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

ยฐI remember, I was always happy useing leftover fabric from my big sis work to make clothes for my neighbor's children as gift. My boss noticed that part of me and always give little kids clothes to sew.๐Ÿ˜’

ยฐAs year went by I struggle to find what to do with myself till one day I realized that it has always been me and little children's clothes all this while;๐Ÿ˜ค such inner peace when you do what you love.

ยฐAnd that's how OBASI NAZARETH was born.
๐Ÿงต My brand is focused on making clothing for kids; each design is unique as they are made from both existing and leftover fabrics in order to curb fabric waste (that's a story for another day)
