The Director General of the Nasarawa State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NASITDEA) paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Chief Judge of Nasarawa State to discuss strategic collaboration on digital transformation within the Judiciary.

During the engagement, discussions focused on strengthening digital capacity through continuous training and knowledge sharing in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data privacy, and digital technologies. The meeting highlighted the need to equip legal professionals with the knowledge required to understand emerging technologies, digital evidence, and the evolving digital landscape.

The Director General also emphasized the importance of developing secure digital systems, protecting institutional data, improving digital infrastructure, and ensuring that technology is implemented with the right skills, policies, and safeguards. The conversation further explored opportunities for collaboration in digital capacity building, website management, official digital platforms, and other technology-driven initiatives that will support the Judiciary’s digital transformation journey.

The engagement reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to building a secure, efficient, and digitally enabled justice system through strategic partnerships, innovation, and continuous capacity development.

Cybersecurity Training Boosts Capacity of Law Enforcement Professionals

The Nasarawa State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NASITDEA), in partnership with the International Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics Academy (ICDFA), has successfully concluded a one-month intensive training on cybersecurity for law enforcement officers and legal practitioners.

Held from 26 January to 26 February 2026, the programme equipped participants with practical skills in digital evidence handling, cybercrime investigation processes, electronic evidence laws, open-source intelligence, and modern digital forensic techniques in line with global standards.

At the closing ceremony, the Director-General of NASITDEA, Haruna Sani Sani commended participants for their discipline and commitment, while reaffirming the agency’s dedication to continuous capacity building.

In his remarks, the Director-General stressed the importance of ethical conduct, noting that investigative skills must be applied responsibly and strictly within legal boundaries. He said professionalism, integrity, and accountability must guide the use of knowledge gained from the training, describing it as “a strategic investment in building a stronger justice system and a safer digital society.”

He added that cybercrime continues to grow in sophistication and requires institutions to respond with competence, integrity, and collaboration.

The Director-General further warned that the skills acquired must serve the law, protect citizens, and strengthen public trust, stressing that any misuse for personal gain or unlawful activity undermines justice and will not be tolerated.

Participants praised the programme for its practical sessions, real-life case simulations, and expert instruction, noting that it improved their confidence in handling digital evidence and enhanced inter-agency collaboration.

The partnership between NASITDEA and ICDFA shows the value of collaboration between government institutions and specialised academies in strengthening national security and upholding the rule of law in the digital era.

NASITDEA also announced plans to roll out additional specialised trainings in digital forensics, cyber threat intelligence, and AI-driven cybersecurity in the coming months, while appreciating all agencies, facilitators, and stakeholders who contributed to the programme’s success.
