represented beautifully at the AMVCA Cultural Night in a stunning blend of Ngas, Berom, and Tarok traditional attire, a look that carried history, culture, and storytelling in every detail.

AMVCA Best Cinematography nominee also proudly represented Plateau at the award ceremony with the iconic Berom cap, proving that sometimes culture speaks loudest in the simplest ways.

On one of Africa’s biggest entertainment stages, Plateau was seen, felt, and proudly carried.

A name that started as a mistake became a legacy.
Before the fame, he was John Michael Nchekwube Obinna, a young boy in Jos with big dreams and serious talent.

Mikel John Obi began his journey at the Pepsi Football Academy, then moved on to Plateau United F.C.. Jos wasn’t just home, it was his training ground.

At 17, he made the leap to Europe, joining Lyn Oslo. But somewhere along the way, during the FIFA U-17 World Championship 2003, a simple error changed everything “Michael” became “Mikel.” And he kept it. From that moment, the name stuck and so did the greatness.

At Chelsea F.C., he became a global icon:
Premier League champion.
UEFA Champions League winner.
One of Africa’s finest midfielders.
