You will be pitched 5 AI programs this quarter.
4 are built for the brochure.
A leader told me yesterday that every piece of AI information feels overwhelming.
Her exact words: even knowing where to start can be crippling.
What she wanted was simple. A way to choose one program and trust it.
That is the whole game. Most leaders buy AI training for the wrong reason. It is in vogue, everyone is doing it, and sitting it out feels like falling behind.
So they pay to look current, and nothing in the work actually changes.
4 things to check before you spend a Naira/Dollar, whether you are buying for yourself or your team:
➟ 1. Specialization.
Is it built for a specific problem, or is it a general tour of what AI is?
A tour is comfortable to sit through. It rarely survives contact with Monday.
➟ 2. Application.
Will you actually do the work, or watch someone talk over slides?
If there is no hands-on task tied to your real job, you are buying entertainment.
➟ 3. Industry fit.
Does it speak to your sector, your role, your actual workflows?
A program built for tech startups will not land in a government agency. Relatability is what makes people lean in.
➟ 4. Support.
Is someone with you after the applause, or does it end when the session ends?
Small groups and personal coaching change behavior. One-day events tick a box.
You will not remember the program that looked impressive. You will remember the one you were still using 3 months later.
Buy the change you can feel in the work. That is the only review that counts.
Back to work, you are either an expert or irrelevant.
