REPORT ON BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT’S FIELD TRIP TRAINING & TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OUTREACH
The Department of Biology, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, in collaboration with the Kwara State Ministry of Education, successfully organized a One-Day Field Trip Training & Teacher Professional Development Outreach for Biology Teachers on Saturday, 13th September 2025 at the University of Ilorin Zoological Garden.
This impactful training was carried out in the name of the College and the Department of Biology, free of charge, as part of our contribution to teacher capacity building and educational development in Kwara State. It was a highly engaging exercise aimed at equipping Biology teachers with practical field experiences that can be cascaded into their classrooms for improved student performance.
It is noteworthy that the Head of Department, Dr. Bello Zakariyau Adebayo, singlehandedly funded the project, covering logistics, feeding, transportation, and transportation allowance for the participating teachers. The Department also appreciates the College Management for granting the opportunity to partner with the State Ministry of Education and for allocating the College bus for the success of this training.
The programme had in attendance distinguished dignitaries, including the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Kwara State, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe Olalekan, and the Chairman, Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). Their presence not only added colour and credibility to the training but also reflected the State Government’s commitment to supporting teacher professional development and advancing quality education in Kwara State.
This initiative has further positioned Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, as a leading institution committed to innovation, service, and community engagement in the education sector.
