ASP Nuhu Told The Court That shooting Oghenemine Ogidi was NOT justified. 😳

Delta State High Court in Asaba was tense on Tuesday as prosecution open its case against 5 defendants over the death of Oghenemine Ogidi.

What the court heard:

👉 1st defendant, ASP Usman Nuhu aka Ogbegbe, reportedly gave different accounts - in one statement he said he shot Ogidi "by error", in another "out of anger." He also reportedly ADMITTED the shooting was not justified.

👉 He allegedly fired first at Effurun Motor Park after his r***e initially failed, then took Ogidi to the police office where he allegedly shot him again in the right leg.

👉 Area Commander ACP Aliyu Shaba reportedly questioned him and ordered Ogidi to be taken to Ekpan General Hospital.

👉 The other 4 defendants reportedly told investigators Nuhu shot without provocation, even after the Area Commander's intervention.

👉 A witness told the court his colleagues had enough opportunity to stop him while he disarmed and reassembled his r***e.

Nuhu reportedly collapsed in court and was revived before proceedings continued. Defence will begin its case on October 21.

The DPP, Tejiri R. Anuwhi says evidence is overwhelming and hopes justice will be served.

Justice Michael Nduka Obi adjourned till Oct 21.
