For now, let’s continue to celebrate the safe return of these students and their teachers after spending 54 days in the kidnappers’ den. Their freedom is the most important thing to everyone at the moment
When the time is right, however, there are some important questions that deserve clear answers and we are going to ask them
1. Who actually secured their release? the Federal Government or the Oyo State Government?
2. What role, if any, did Sunday Igboho play in their release?
3. Why didn’t the school principal acknowledge or thank the Oyo State Government in the first video released after their freedom?
4. Why was it President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who first announced their release? Why wasn’t the Oyo State Government given the opportunity to make the announcement?
5. Was any ransom paid to secure their freedom?
6. If it was a rescue operation, why have there been no reports of arrests or an exchange of gunfire with the kidnappers?
7. Did “they” just play a political game on “us”?
For now, though, let’s be thankful that the victims are home safely. The time for accountability and answers will come.
Once again, congratulations to the families of the victims, and may the soul of Mr Michael Oyedokun continue to rest in peace 😢
