The rushed wakes
The rushed baths and breakfasts
Because duty calls like an alarm clock
Always ringing at the scheduled time
So...
We rush out
We rush to work
To the market, and
To school
I know what the rush is all about:
To meet up with appointments
To get applauded by the principal—
"You are punctual today!"
To get to buy stuff fast and return
To other things craving attention
But we've soon forgotten the Owner of time
Who doesn't work with a clock
Who isn't alarmed at the sound of the cock—
"Kukuruku!"
The Creator
Even when He created the world
Had no rush and hurries
He even rested on the seventh day...
But we, the creatures, have chosen
Chosen to rush all through
Not about the baths and the breakfasts
Or the appointments that often meet with disappointments
We rush through the path
The path of success
We rush through
And...
The success becomes cut short early
Because patience was lost
We cry, we wail—
Not because of the cut-short success
But of regrets and pains
You could have waited
Take some deep breaths
Take some pauses
Then keep going
But no, we rush,
Because that's us on a normal day—
Always rushing to get things done,
Like we own the earth and time.
So, what about the patient dog
That eats the fattest bone?
Patience, Patience
Calling you forth into its arms
Omo, Aunty, Uncle, Iya—
You don't have to rush it
Sometimes, you have to wait
WAIT
The wait can bring burdens and weights,
But you'll be glad you ignored—
Ignored the whispers...
"RUSH!"
